Fucking lowlifes exercising their right to assemble... How dare they want to exercise any of their rights. How dare they protest the clear and documented curruption that has sent our country into a depression probably greater than the great depression ( we just haven't felt it as bad since we're so developed. )

Some of them exercised their rights to be idiots and provoked the police...this is not rocket science.

The correct title should read "people attempt to peacefully assemble, police thugs use tear gas, flash bangs and rubber bullets to attack the crowd"

Keep up the police brutality, and soon you'll have the same situation as Greece.

Am I the only one that when they heard this thought 'oh its Oakland' . Nothing seems to be done peacefully involving crowds there.

I wasn't terribly surprised, but it doesn't take many people to start a physical situation like this. :\

I don't think anyone is surprised by the violence, i'm certainly not. It's my opinion it will escalate over time. I did find this story pretty funny about how many of the tents in "occupy London" are empty at night.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...nts-St-Pauls-protest-camp-left-overnight.html

Maybe the tents weren't empty but actually occupied by coldblooded aliens in disguise that are meant to sow discord in our society to facilitate an easy domination once their main force arrives!

Crap! Where did I put my tinfoil hat!

Nothing terrifies the right more than to see the violence they have within themselves expressed back at them. The right is full of angry nasty sadistic little people who love nothing more than to masturbate to the suffering of other people and cheer when they hurt.

Of course, from reading the responses to this you will easily see that next on the list of terrifying and hated is anything that points out this truth to them.

The wonderfully sad thing about the sick is they love being sick and it can't be helped because it's the only way they survived their childhood trauma. Poor poor sick folk on the Right, taught to hate its own disease, taught to have contempt for the very condition they are in. To retrieve your sanity is really really really going to hurt. Trust me, I know.

You're really full of yourself. Not to mention you're in complete denial that you're about the most passive-aggressive person on this forum.

It's a peaceful assembly until protesters start fights and throw stuff at the police.

Skip to 3:15 to witness attempted murder by the police.

This person is laying on the ground, possibly unconscious. So people go over to that person to try helping them up and police throw 1-2 flashbang grenades where the person is laying on the ground.

If that person were having a seizure or was unconcsious... they could very well die. Absolutely uncalled for.

And before the ... idiots start flaming, the police are claiming they only used teargas, nothing else.

So, there they have already lied. Why do you lie/ Guilty conscience? Cover up?

You don't lie unless you're hiding something. Now, I'm sure there's plenty of idiots here in P&N who will even challenge the very definition of lying here..

But let me assure you. When the police say they only used tear gas, and yet theres video evidence of them throwing flashbang grenade(s) near an injured person... thats a LIE.

There's always some fuck ups in the crowd just like every family has a fuck up or two. But this guilt by association idea is garbage. Futhermore, I know what I'd do if I were I fat cat banker, because there is no legal means available to stop this Political activism I'd hire some thugs to tar the whole crowd for simpletons like you. Just sayin.
\

BTW I look forward to your post about all gun owners next time a gun owner goes postal. I bet it won't happen, just pointing out your partisanship is blinding you to math & probabilities like liberals when they go after guns.

See. I don't always agree with zebo but I know he thinks clearly. So kudos to you.

I wouldn't frame the "Occupy" groups in quite the liberal vs. conservative terms that have been used by some ideologues from each side. From what I've seen, there are plenty of conservatives and (especially) libertarians in the group as well, upset at the way government gets involved in corporations, e.g., TARP or the results of corruption/lobbying.

Why are the police even messing with them in the first place. Our Constitution guarantees you the right of free speech including the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. The only felons are the boys in blue assaulting, shooting and bombing* protestors. There is only one valid argument for the use of violence: Self-defense or defense of another. Not because you don't like them there.

LOL - Maybe they should have followed police instructions to disperse and they wouldn't have been tear gassed or flash banged.

Police tell you to move, you move.

If a person is injured you let the professionals deal with it.

I really don't get it. These thugs get violent and bring this type of police action on themselves and then bitch about the consequences.

Eh Raiders have a bye this week, they have to get out their aggression somewhere. Nothing to see here..

1) They are not being arrested for their message
2) They assembled, petitioned government for a redress of their grievances, and then decided to camp out.

It was a peaceful assembly until the police forced the people to disband and clear out. When you deny people the right to protest peacefully, guess what's gonna happen next?

What would be funny is seeing something like this happen to tea baggers, and seeing how people like you react. But since every tea party protest is a corporate sponsored affair, I guess it would never happen.

One liberal commentator made the argument that after successful protests of the 60's, the powers that be since the 70's have eroded the right of protest with excessive permitting.

So you're saying it's perfectly fine that they throw a flash bang in an unconscious persons face?

Keep talking. I'm enjoying seeing the thoughts of people who are against the whole movement despite the facts we all have that we've been raped and pillaged by bankers and scammers in wallstreet.

Also, where is the thug violence from the protesters you speak of? I saw a bunch of people milling about. I saw a protester throw a gas cannister back at police which is fair game imo. They weren't camping. They were walking around.

Or are you not american? Because american's are supposed to care about the rights they so cherish. Otherwise what do we have?

Interesting point and they had AR-15s strapped to their backs but I bet righties would raise hell in here if tea party gatherings were broken up. Free speech is fine I guess unless someone else who speaks about something you disagree with. I of course support both Tea party and OWS as important political activism. The elites don't listen otherwise.

Here's one view of OWS being the 'real populism' unlike the tea party:

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2011/10/25-3

The tea party is more what they call 'astro turf' in contrast to 'grass roots'.

I.e., the wealthy right has figured out that spending to stage phony 'movements' is effective at countering grass-roots movements.

But there is some overlap - I might post another link on that.
