Both are populist movements sick of the elites running the country for their own benefit.

Maybe that's the general motivator, but the real similarity is that both are movements embracing an overly simplistic (if emotionally appealing) narratives of current events. I don't object to the populist movement really, but I am getting a bit sick of this movement towards bumper sticker political philosophy.

Also, I feel like the OP needs some perspective. Being the "winner" of two goofy movements occupying the irrational extremes of the political spectrum isn't something I'd go around bragging about.

Well, in defense of this posting several #Occupy supporters on many occasions in the other thread talked about poll numbers comparing the popularity of #Occupy vs. the TP. This from our good friend Phokus over a month ago:

"Hey, you rightwing dogshits, you're not very popular compared to the OWS movement, deal with it:

Twice as may Americans view the OWS favorably over the Tea Party. And the ones who view the OWS protestors "very favorably" triple the equivalent who view the Tea Party "very favorably".

Also remember, almost 70% of Americans favor raising taxes on the wealthy. There *IS NO 53%*, get over it you idiot rightwingers, America is starting to wake up.

I just thought i'd keep everyone updated.

From the link:

Voters don't care for the Tea Party either, with 42% saying they support its goals to 45% opposed. But asked whether they have a higher opinion of the Tea Party or Occupy Wall Street movement the Tea Party wins out 43-37, representing a flip from last month when Occupy Wall Street won out 40-37 on that question.

I'm convinced... both sides are idiots in the eyes of the majority who fall somewhere in between these bookends.

I did not see those posts from the pro-OWS types, but they'd make me think more or less the same thing. I guess the grain of salt I'd take the various polls with would be that one movement or the other being popular doesn't necessarily reflect the popularity of the underlying sentiment.

So you are saying you are sick of the Republican party political stategy for the past... oh at least 10 years or so?

Yep, pretty much. Democrats definitely have their moments too, but nobody can distill complex issues down to overly simplistic fortune cookie ideas quite like the Republican party.

all your work discrediting ows has worked. Congrats.

Nobody has to do much work discrediting the idiots when they do such a fantastic job of it themselves. No matter how much of the left media tries to spin it, at it's core, OWS is just a bunch of losers whining that they are entitled to more.

Yeah, you put your fingers in your ears with the best of 'em.

When I do it, I hum the theme to the Flintstones. Helps in case the shouting starts to disrupt my dogma.
