By Tetedeiench, Thursday 29 January 2009 03:55 PM

http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?News

MAJOR FEATURES

* OCCT's main UI has been completly revamped
* Graphs now shows a 2nd line showing the CPU usage / FPS during the test.
* CPU usage is now instantaneous instead of an average since the start of the test
* OCCT now has 5 different tests. The descriptions are at the end of the changelog

USER INTERFACE

* Entirely revamped - now based on tabs, and completly modular
* Now has a small help module - just move your mouse around OCCT's window, you'll see

MONITORING

* The built-in engine has been updated - lots of new hardware are now supported
* Alot of bugs are fixed, included the famous "3 cores out of 4 detected"

GRAPHS

* Graphs now shows a second line showing the CPU usage/FPS during the test
* A legend explains everything
* The test configuration is now entirely present in the graph's subtitles

TESTS DESCRIPTION

CPU:eek:CCT

* The original, inherited from previous versions of OCCT
* Now Core i7 compatible
* Optimized

CPU:LINPACK

* The very same as IntelBurnTest, based on a test provided by Intel
* It will make your CPU hotter than never !
* 32 and 64 bits support

GPU:3D

* Home-made test written in Direct3d that will make your GPU really hot - this test is similar to ATITool and Furmark (thanks to Furmark and JegX for his support and for the aborted partnership ;) )
* Will make your graphic card real hot - especially the GPU
* Has an error detection mode similar to ATITool
* SLI and Crossfire support (Just enable Fullscreen mode !)

GPU:Memtest

* Again, Home-made test written in CUDA that'll launch a MemTest86 or MemTest86+ like test on your Graphic card memory and report any error found
* Requires a Nvidia Graphic Card, and a GeForce 8 or Higher !

Power Supply

* Dedicated to power supplies - it'll launch GPU:3D and CPU:LINPACK at the same time to load your power supply. BEWARE, THIS TEST IS REALLY DEMANDING !
* WARNING, DO NOT USE THIS TEST WITH NO-NAME POWER SUPPLY, AS A FEW DEATHS HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPORTED !
* This tests demands 30 to 40% more power than crysis on a quad-core system with an SLI graphic system installed...

Nice. I was looking for finding a stress test for my new core i7 build. Didnt want orthos or prime 95 since those things take a very long time to find anything and not to mention theyre quite old.

The GPU test really heats up the card. It's the same as furmark exteme burning mode. I got 100 C on the VRMs with the fan at 55%. This test is a killer.

Ugh, because of the directx update problems I've had (crashes like 5% into install for no reason I can find) I can only do the GPU mem test. I also can't do the PSU test

You try doing the install with everything in your computer set to stock clocks? GPU and CPU?

If you have, and you still experience the install issue then my next suspicion would be you have corrupted windows files of some manner. Time for new OS install.

Yeah I've done everything imaginable to try and fix it. It's workable, as I can still play games fine, but I can't install anything new that edits/updates DX. I really want to play COD: WaW that came with my 9800gt I just got int the mail, so I have my OS reinstalling right now ;)

Sweet. Does this mean that I don't have to run prime95 and atitool at the same time anymore?

Edit:I wonder if they have a multi-gpu version?

Does this mean I can stop burning my screwdriver tips when I short out the 12V combined?

OCCT doesn't load my CPU nearly as much as Orthos small. Both temps, and I have much less vdroop running OCCT than I do Orthos Small.

I like Orthos small.

Is this program bloatware compared to P95/Orthos?

How does the GPU testing work? I've yet to find one that's accurate.

Running the PSU test loads both of my GPUs.

With 280 SLI + i7 under linpack this thing sure creates a lot of heat. GPU testing is pretty much the same as Furmark as OP states, gets the graphics cards to ~80C with the fans forced @ 100%. With everything going full blast the noise is incredible, the fan on the TX750 starts getting loud too.

Nothing died though, so considering this is absolute-worst case scenario I'm clearly fine with a quality 750W unit running this setup. I need to get a Kill-a-watt meter but I would guess that I'm pulling ~600W+ running this thing....

ATI-tool is the generally accepted norm?
