Occasional high litched beep

Cross posting since I'm not getting any response on Computer Qs and I suspect the Mobo.

I have an occasional very high pitched, very short, not very loud beep from my motherboard during computer operation. No performance degradation, just the occasional stray beep.

It seems to be happening upon the first instance of items running... When I girst fire up my email or browser, when i first pop my mail. Sometimes I'll get a couple beeps as apps load after entering my PW to boot my machine. It's not completely consistent though.

Also triggered when I started a burn session in Power to Go (in response to my hitting the "burn" button, not opening the application). HW and proc intensive activity did not trigger a problem (i.e. backing up said disk with DVDshrink).

Speedfan indicates all temps in the 20s to mid 30s. video card up to 46c with general use.

Ran Memtest for 15-20 mins. Did not trigger any beeps or errors.

No performance hits. Just trying to ID the problem. Sounds almost like the minute chirp of a smoke detector battery going dead in miniature (though not as regular). System battery?
