Everybody likes free shit. Gonna be grand when she has to explain how she’s gonna pay for it all

Considering Republicans see no need to pay for their actual enacted policies why on earth should she have to explain how to pay for her theoretical ones?

Conservatives have lost any ability they ever had to ask about how things are financed. They have shown over and over that they don’t actually care about fiscal responsibility.

Edit: any time she is asked how she plans on paying for her policies the answer should be ‘the same way Republicans pay for theirs’. End of story.

I agree conservatives don’t give a shit either. Politicians are the scum of the Earth, promising "free" stuff and that gets them the votes (and I’m sure extra perks from the industries that benefit) but the reality is they just put it on the credit card and tell the kids you deal with it. Cortez is obviously no different.

I don’t agree that debt works that way but regardless she should not bother answering that question because it’s bullshit that conservatives don’t really care about and just use to attack social programs.

So in the end she’s just someone who has really popular policies. Might not be a great person for the GOP to elevate.

Free is always popular. When asked if they want the federal budget to inflate by $40 trillion over the next 10 years I’d imagine it becomes a hell of a lot less popular.

But the study makes clear that this is an unrealistic assumption and in fact the plan would raise government expenditures by $32.6 trillion over 10 years. Without the provider cuts, the additional federal budget cost would be nearly $40 trillion. So, no matter how you slice it, the study does not say it would be “much cheaper” than the current system.

It’s a right wing think tank study, who cares what it says? Most empirical research shows single payer would be considerably cheaper than our current system. What government expenditures change to is irrelevant, the important figure is the overall cost as your wallet doesn’t care if you’re paying the government or an insurance company. Regardless, as I said before until conservatives start caring about how they pay for their own proposals they should be ignored when asking about liberal programs.

Also, since when do conservatives care about studies and research? When all the research showed their tax and health care plans were disasters they went forward with them anyway.

As I said her plan to pay for her policies is identical to republican plans to pay for theirs.

they would rather pay more then let filthy poors get it for free.

good. Dont ever bring it up again.

I’m not a conservative so I’ll still bring it up no matter if it’s a D or R or Q and they starts promising free shit by putting it on the credit card. My daughter shouldn’t have the burden of paying for something you want for "free".

Your response of "Republicans don’t care so why should we" is amusing. Both sides type of thinking amirite?

How is that ‘both sides?’ I’m saying that conservative complaints about financing these programs are made in comically transparent bad faith. Arguments made in bad faith should be dismissed.

Conservatives need to book about four decades of fiscal responsibility in order to even get back to neutral on this issue so until they do that their complaints should be ignored because we all know they are just lying.

Anywho, who care? Lots on here (yourself included), and Ocasio-Cortez since she cited it.

I doubt she thinks of it as authoritative - her point was that even right wing think tanks are showing these results.

Can you show me your complaints against the recent Republican tax cuts, health care bills, etc? Do you vote against them?

My daughter shouldn’t have the burden of paying for something you want for "free".

This thinking has never made any sense to me. How is she paying for it? Is she producing health care in 2040 and sending it back in time?

if you gave a fuck about the future for your child you would of voted D by now.

Except they’re not.

The easy out. Shame this has become a tactic recently. Bad faith or not, the argument is the same.
we are going to raise the taxes on the rich and make a better world for your daughter. Not that she will give a fuck. Im sure she will think everything she has is because of her own work.

Great Moments in Socialism

"SAN CASIMIRO, Venezuela — Kenyerber Aquino Merchán was 17 months old when he starved to death.

His father left before dawn to bring him home from the hospital morgue. He carried Kenyerber’s skeletal frame into the kitchen and handed it to a mortuary worker who makes house calls for Venezuelan families with no money for funerals.

Kenyerber’s spine and rib cage protruded as the embalming chemicals were injected. Aunts shooed away curious young cousins, mourners arrived with wildflowers from the hills, and relatives cut out a pair of cardboard wings from one of the empty white ration boxes that families increasingly depend on amid the food shortages and soaring food prices throttling the nation. They gently placed the tiny wings on top of Kenyerber’s coffin to help his soul reach heaven — a tradition when a baby dies in Venezuela."

Yea, because our economy, infrastructure, is EXACTLY the same as Venezuela so ANY change to ANY domestic policy will result in the horror stories you trot out. Another fuck-tard victim of Fox news.
