OC won't OC anymore -- UPDATE, SEE INSIDE, ITS BACK

That happened to me on my previous AMD X2 3800 system. Had a really nice OC going for months then one day its just up and nope. Tried to get it back but didnt happen. I have upgraded since then, but I am going to go back and check it out again. Its my secondary system but my son has been using it for flash creations.

I was actually going to say the same thing TC91 mentioned, try swapping the B3 problem child with either of your other quads that are stable and see if the problem follows the cpu or remains with the system.

It may not be worth it for 100mhz but what about if/when it continues to degrade?

If it's the board, RMA before it goes out completely.

Update ! I had more problems today. was down to 3000 and still bad. So I was going drop even more, and went to 9x multi to drop the fsb in case that was heating the NB too much. So I also dropped the vdimm from 2.3 down to 2.2, and at 9x333 wouldn;t even stay stable for 10 seconds ! So I put the vdimm back to 2.3 and the speed to 3160, higher than before this started and its now been a couple of hours.

And the memory is gskill PC-8000, si I am WAY under spec, but I think it does need 2.2 real vdimm.

So here is what I think, the ASUS mobo has horrible vdroop, what if the vdimm also is way lower than I set ? If so, I could probably get 3.2 or better if I pump the vdimm even more !

Question. Is there a tool that reports actual vdimm like cpuz does for vcore ?

Edit: Acanthus, I don't have time to remove 2 motherboards, then HSF's for a swap, just for this. My HSF's require removing the motherboards, Big Typhoon, and Ninja sythe type A

Not sure about ASUS, but abit ships their boards with "abitEQ" that shows Vdimm actual while in the OS, check for software you can download. There may also be a monitoring section in BIOS that shows you what the actual voltage is.

Everest Home Edition (v. 2.20.405), under the Computer / Sensor menu shows an "Aux" voltage value that reads 2.05, which is exactly what my Vdimm is. Check it out...if there is a setting close to what you're set at in BIOS and doesn't correlate with any other voltage values, it may be your Vdimm.

ASUS PC-probe only checks vdimm, 3.3, 5v and 12 rails. I am downloading Everest now. I will update after installing.

Edit: Update : Everest is saying my vcore is 2.64, and aux is 3.52, and 12v rail is 10.58. None of these agree with ASUS probe or cpuz, so its garbage on my motherboard.

Any other software that reads vdimm ?

It just re-booted again. Fxxx ASUS, I just ordered an open box DQ6 to replace it. I don't have time for this, and have lost 2 days in F@H due to fubared units.
