For a long time, I've been running a stable OC of my E6300 (1.8ghz) at 2.7 ghz with good temps. Last night, I swapped out four 512MB sticks of Corsair DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel RAM (5-5-5-12) with two 2GB sticks of the same stuff (same brand) with timings of 5-5-5-18. Needless to say, I had to convert to default settings in order to get my machine to boot.
From there, I lowered the DDR frequecy to 533mhz and began stepping up CPU frequecy as I had done before. It posted at 2.5ghz but failed at 2.7ghz. To achieve the 2.7 OC, I use the default multiplier of 7 and raise the CPU frequency to 386. That brings my DDR 800 RAM to about 772mhz. Apparently, there's another setting that I'm gonna need to update with the new memory. The only other thing I did was change the memory voltage from 1.9v to 1.8v per the label on the RAM. What am I missing here?
Do keep in mind that I'm only OC'ing he CPU. Thanks!
