OC Ram? Good/Bad?

I am looking at two different ram and wondering which one to go for. I don't mind spending extra money to get faster ram, but I want to know if this ram: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80098-86

could be OC to be quicker, or as quick as the http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?&scriteria=BA21006

There is about a $100 difference between 2Gb of the 1st, and 2gb of the 2nd one.

This is for a business computer, and if OC the ram will increase the risk of failure, I would rather spend the $100 and get something already that fast.

the difference in timings between the two would probably not be noticable but i doubt you could get cl2 on the first...highly doubt

So they will perform the same? I won't notice a difference at all?

What about OC? Does this increase risk with ram (specifically the model above)? I don't want to OC if there is an increase in risk... just looking for some opinions from expects- not best guesses.

Thanks for the help shoRunner, you have been very helpful with the entire system I have been putting together.

the difference wouldn't be noticable in anything accept maybe phote editing where the memory is used extensively even then the difference would only be a few seconds.

Overclocking will reduce reliablity, but depending on how much you overclock and how tolerant what you are overclocking it may or may not be signifacant. often times memory is designed to be able to handle overclocking and higher voltages.

The corsair value ram you have linked to is not designed to be overclocked and will not overclock very well.

I was told that ram would be easily OC and wouldn't lose reliability. Are you sure about this? I want the full life out of the ram. I always thought OC anything would reduce reliability, but increase performance.

if you are very careful with your overclock and don't increase the voltage then there should be little little ill effect. you can use memtest to check for errors in your memory caused by overclocking. but if you increase voltage beyond what any part is rated for obviously its life expectancy will be decreased. i wouldn't recommend overclocking for any office computer.

I don't want to overclock if it is going to be in issue, but I believed someone mentioned on here that it was perfectly fine, and there was no increased risk. Apparently I was wrong.

And 2GB of ram is perfect for a machine running a lot of images, virtual tours, as well as MS Office programs.
