OC problem, question about MB and onbaord sound

Iv been having locks up for the last few days. I could just be sitting on my desktop with only winamp playing when my computer just freezes. I thought this was because of my OC, so I lowered my FSB and then had problem getting windows to end load all the way. Funny how 150FSB works but 140FSB doesnt.....

A while ago when I got my 2400+ I ended up getting some water on my board from the watercooler........which I didnt know about when I first tried to turn my computer on (silver boards and water do not mix!) so anyways dried it all out and it fired up. Things seem to work for awhile but slowly got locks ups and lowered my FSB, tried higher vcore, higher mem timings and so on.

After having XP freeze 3 times today from just using winamp, I thought what if it was my onboard sound causing the locks up, the weird FSB problems and so on? So I put my old SB live in and so far its all good tho Im at stock speed right now.

Is it possibly that the water messed something up with the onboard sound it just a way that its causing these problems including the FSB weirdness?

You got H2O on the mobo and powered it up wet, shorting out at least some part(s)? I'm surprised it worked at all, ever. I personally would not again pump power through that mobo, possibly frying the otherwise good components on it.

but if you want to test it properly, put the system back to it's default stock parameters, that is, no overclocking at all, and see if it still freezes up. If so, the board (and perhaps other components) are goners. If not.....yer overclocking is scroozed, but at least you can use the machine.

Like I said I didnt see the water at first intill I was water sitting in the bottom of my case......I so plan on getting a new board early next year.

Even at stock clockspeed I was getting a lock up when doing something as simple as playing winamp. I can play UT for over an hour with no problems but it seems everytime Im doing nothing but surfing and playing winamp it locks up. Which is what made me think there was something wrong with the onboard sound. Since my first post, Iv been surfing and playing a audio cd for the last 3 hours without a problem using my SB Live.

Try using some other player than Winamp. Perhaps it is the problem, instead of the system itself? I had some problems with a winamp install, and had to uninstall and reinstall to get it working properly.

But I was not denegrating you for getting water on the board, just restating the original cause for alarm.
