OC on AM2? Can we use any HTT setting now even with "budget" RAM?

Simple enough question, say youve got a 11X multi on an X2...you set HTT to 300. Youve now got a 3.3GHz X2. You can get cheap DDR2 667 that runs at 333MHz...see where im going with this? I might be a little confused or dont understand something, so thats why Im asking. I can get a 2GB set of DDR2 667 for 140$...run it at 3-3-3-x timings and be set to go for any OC? Whats DDR2 800 or even DDR2 1067 good for then?

Im looking at AM2 because its cheap (I can already get the X2 5000 for 280$) available and has a good range of cheap MOBOs. I kinda looked at conroe, but its a lot more confusing harder to OC (Im pretty much noob at OCin) and MOBO options are a lot fewer and more expensive. And intel could use the more expensive RAM too. I need the system in a month, maybe 2 MAX. So I dunno what Intel is gonna have by then...I cant wait much longer. Maybe one month but then its time to order so its got time to get shipped assembled and tested before its off to another state.

I think a 175$ 3+GHz AM2 should compete well enough with conroes in that price range...I know AM2 hits a wall somewhere around 3GHz so I dunno if I need a higher end chip. Im looking at the 4600 or 4400? (Did I get the models right? 2.2 or 2.4GHz...thats like an 11 or 12x multi right?)
