OC on 2500 Barton

My System setup is as follows:
AMD ATHLON 2500 Barton
Asus K7N8X Deluxe
Corsair 512mb 3200
Radeon Pro 9600 Pro

I have read a lot but still seem to get confused. What is the best way to OC this. I want some boost but not at to much of a risk. Do I change my FSb or Clock Multipier I don't know. Thanks for the help.

If the 2500+ is non-mobile chip, it's probably going to be locked. Therefore, the only way you can OC is by raising the FSB in the BIOS. Since you've got a good board, try raising the FSB to 200 and raise the Vcore voltage to 1.70v. See if you can boot into Windows and remain stable.

Take your fsb up to 200 you may have to bump your voltage a bit try 1.75volts, if it won't boot at 200fsb. Make sure you have a good heat/sink fan and if it has a fan controller turn it on high. have fun

I just upped it to 200fsb and its running as a athlon 3200+
Right now its temp is
43/109
and I set the vcore to 1.7
its now running at 1.696-1.712
what does changign the voltage to 1.75 do? Do I need to?

Just tried cs... Seemed to run better except after 1 min it froze for a few seconds and I did a hard power off just incase something bad happened. it was still at 43 degress celius befor eit froze. Is it getting used to it was it the vcore? I changed the settings back to norm for now? Hmm.

Typically, games will either lock up or crash back to the desktop when overclocking, if the system is not stable. If it's not stable, then you can either up the Vcore OR lower the FSB.

You'll just have to play around with this to determine the max FSB you can run and still keep the Vcore reasonable. With those temps, you should be fine up a Vcore of 1.75.

As said before here. Try 1.75V.
I did and it still wasn't stable. I just backed the FSB down to 195 and Vcore to stock and it runs solid at 2.145GHz.

Hey. My A7N8X-Deluxe only has a few settings for fsb. like 133 166 200.??/ How did u get urs to 195. Also what fsb spread spectrum.

You'll want to change the system performance from optimal/aggressive to expert, this should unlock more fsb settings.

Ideal OC is 11.0 x 200 for 2.2 GHz, which equals a XP 3200+. If your multiplier's locked, though, you'll need to keep it at 11.5 and will have to experiement to get it near 200 FSB.
