Oc keeping it below 60c

Hey guys, Iam editing this cause the earlier post was a bit clustered and had much useless info.

So this is the settings I have

E8400 C0 stepping + gigabyte P35 + OCZ vendetta 2 + 800 mhz DDR 2 ram

9 X 423 mhz
SPD 1:1
PCIe 100 mhz
Vcore: 1.35v
Vdimm 1.9v
VCC 1.35(1.25 + 0.1)
VTT +0.2(don't know the original values)
Fan RPM: 1534

Using prime 95 and real temp. And the voltages from bios.

Vcore in cpuz 1.264
Don't know how to read VCC,VTT, VDIMM in windows !!

Dont take anything else I said into regard, This are the new set of setting I am using.
It's been 29 minutes with prime 95 large FFT's test running and its already at 62c(earlier it was at 61c, until it passed self test 1024k)Speed fan reads it as 66c !!(both cores are at the same temperature) Some how my instincts tell me that this temp will keep on increasing !! How to keep it below 60c, I dont think I will be able to find the bolt thru kit as finding this cooler was itself impossible. And I cant order stuff online (NO CC )


Also is the fan installed properly ??

Also I have my eyes on the 4ghz mark !! any suggestions on how much VCC and VTT might be needed !! Cause until one and half hour of prime 95 testing is over am not getting any errors(for practically all settings, except a few)

Prob limited with the memory you are using. Are you runnin it 1-1?

edit: also did you bump up your NB volts a bit?

I have that same heatsink, and I ended up using a bolt-thru kit. The push pins were/are awful, and I could never get it firmly in place, no matter how hard I pushed. If you're also concerned about your temps, I'd recommend picking up an LGA 775 bolt thru kit. It's worth the $10.

the cooler itself is a good cooler, i have one, but it's true that it doesnt supply very good mounting pressure. i have it on my socket 939 athlon 64 now because i didnt feel like remounting that again, and it doesnt support dual fans as well as my xigmatek S-1283 does, so i bolted that to my e5200. as for your OC stability, read the C2D overclocking guide at the top of the forums here, then inspect your northbridge, FSB, and memory voltages, as well as your memory divider. it could be you're running your memory at 1:1 with your FSB, which would be 890MHz, assuming you're using 445x9 to get 4GHz. those e8400 chips, even the early steppings, did a good job getting to 4GHz, so i doubt its your CPU so much as your northbridge, FSB, and memory all need adjusting.

Well, my dealer doesn't has that bolt thru kit and he is the only one who distributes OCZ vendetta 2 in India . So I cant get it.

Any how, yes am running it the ram in 1:1(SPD at 2.0) ratio memory voltage is 1.9v the FSB voltage and Northbridge voltage I left at default.

A certain strange thing happened while I left the stress test on and I went to sleep !! One of the worker thread just stopped !! Real temp says that a maximum of 65c was touched. I wonder why it happened like that !! (vcore 1.35v,vdimm 1.9v,423 x 9)

I really want to know how you guys figured that I was not using the bolt thru kit !! cause I didn't mention any thing about that !!
