I moved the multiplier to 40 and the bios shows my speed at 4000. when I run cpuz in windows it shows 1600? anyone want to educate me on this?

Thanks

You need to put a load on the system to see the jump. You are at idle and with EIST enabled you will default to 1600mhz and drop your vcore.

So go download linx and let that run for 2hrs to check your stability.

Sounds like Speedstep to me. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

It's a power saving feature, Intel has used it for at least 5 years now, basically the processor drops to a low clock speed low voltage while idle/lightly tasked to conserve power. Try running Prime95 or whatever you intend to stress test with, you should see the clock speed jump up to 4.0Ghz.

Keep speed step on, just put a load on the processor if you want to see the speed increase.

You can easily rock a 4.5ghz overclock by the way. Just set vcore to 1.38 give or take and a 45x multi, check for stability with linx and thats that :)

thinking that I will stay at 4.0 for a while then move it up kind of an easy over clock if you ask me!!
