I run 600 Duron @ 850 with no problems.(1.70 volts)
When I try to go to 900, I have to up volts all the way to 1.85 and it works, but heat goes up. Getting a new Taisol any day now.
I have tried 950 and 1000, but the system boots as a 600. Think I should redo the pencil trick. Plan on going to Autozone and get a defogger kit too.

BTW, Can't even get UT to run. As soon as it gets to the screen where I choose tp play, it locks up. ANy ideas?

Thanks,

Larry

What are your temps? Sounds to me that you are getting too hot. Re-do on the bridges sounds like a good idea too.

Yeah. Sounds like the CPU is probably limited by the heat. It may also be the CPU itself since many Duron 600s top off at around 850.

You would also want to redo your bridges if some of the multipliers are missing.

As for your issues with UT, have you tried installing the lastest video and sound drivers?

Try running it with the cover off of your case and maybe a fan blowing on it just to see what you can do. This should tell you if your trouble is heat related.

I can run my Duron 600 at 900 with no trouble, but I couldn't get it to 1000. It would not boot. I removed the cover and had a small desk fan blowing on it and it would do 1000 with no trouble. Of course I didn't leave it this way, but I now I feel that investing in better cooling (I am using 'boxed' cooling) will be worth the extra expense.

Gotta Love AMD !!

Good Luck,

When I could measure it, using hardware monitor, never went over 52C.

I have the temperature probe that I have placed near the core, wedged under the hs, but not between the core and hs. It measures about 4.5C less than the hardware monitor.

I have noticed that the heat is pretty high (57C) when I get into the bios temperature monitor, just after having reset it from an unsuccessful oc attempt.

Didn't know if I should raise the voltage a little more just to see if UT would start for me.

Thanks

na, if its that hot wait for new cooling before going with anymore voltage.

Its likely cooling that is holding you back, or it could be that the chip just won't overclock anymore.

A chrome orb is not the best for socket A cooling, though, especially at high speed/high voltage situations.

Well, Bad news. I left it on 850, which I have done before, for a few hours.

I came back home, shut it down from windows and it won't even boot now.

Not sure what to do now.

Went ahead and removed all the l1 pencil marks and tried to bot, still nothing.

It is as if I don't have a cpu in it.

I even went ahead and cleared the bios and tried to start, no go.

Drat!

Redid Pencil one more time, made sure cpu was securely in socket, tightened spring clip holding fan to cpu, eureka!
Only, it still averages 47C at 850. (But it does work, phewwwww!)
