My system specs:
Athlon 64 3400 + NewCastle
Asus K8N-E Deluxe
1.5 gig pc3200 ddr400 ram
evga geforce 6800 gt
160 gigs sata hd

On with the show. I just got my system, and I checked the core speed. It's rediculously low... it's at 1005 MHz, running at 201 HTT(FSB), with only 5 multiplier... and I have no idea how to raise this value. 5 multipliers is so less. Someone please help.

if my chip is locked and no way of increasing multipliers, how much do you think i can raise the HTT(FSB)?

Wow, your multiplier is only at 5? That needs to be at 11 for a NewCastle proc. Try going into your bios and double checking that the processor is set to it's stock 11x multiplier. If it's not set there, try adjusting it up to 11, and if you can't get it to work send the proc back, it's defective.

However this also sounds like AMD's "cool and quet" technology kicking in. In which I think the processor slows itself down when it's not in use, but never going down below 1000MHz, to help the processor run cooler, and the heatsing fan run quieter.

for a newcastle 3400+, it should be 12x and for a clawhammer 3200+ 11x

most likely, you have cool and quiet running as stated by rustafur

if you go into the bios, you can disable this option and your cpu should run at the right multiplier
