Right now my Cpu is OC at 2.4ghz ( its a 3200 winchester ) and the ram with the 166 setting run at 200..so perfect match...my question is....if I OC more...i need to make my ram run slower ( cause the next time it can reach 200 ( at 133 ) is if i get my cpu at 3ghz) is the ram speed important? I dont mean setting..but the fact that for exemple it will run at 167mhz if I OC the CPU at 2.5ghz...so...OC more the cpu? or run the ram fast as it can?

Is it just simple math like that? 9x300... by lowering the cpu X? or does changing the cpu multi affect the speed? ...what i mean is...4x4=16 and 2x8=16 too....will the speed be the same? ( by speed I mean with benchmark and gaming for exemple ).

Your ram is not getting slower. Your ram is still running at 200FSB. Your CPU however is running at 240 FSB(HTT).

That I know..if I keep it at 2.4ghz..but if I want to go faster I have no choice but to lower the ram frequency...and that's the question..how much speed will it cost me doing that...

It shouldnt cost you any performance, but having a 50% overclock on the motherboard might not be attainable. Also, some cpus dont like some multipliers (or so I've heard, I've actually never had any problems in this regard).

At 2.4ghz im assuming your ht multiplier is 4x which means means that 4x240 your HTT is running at 960mhz.

This is what I have done with my 3200 Venice.

CPU Multiplier is 10x
HTT Multiplier is 4x
HT is set at 250. (250x10=1000mhz)
Ram divider is 0.83 (166) which means my ram is running at 208mhz.

I added copper dissipaters to my ram even though 208 isnt that high. And I have also added 100% copper 3d cooler ultra gt for my cpu which stabalizes my temp at 45C at max load.

You can try these settings. Also make sure your are supplying adequate voltage to your cpu. I bumped up my venice volt from stock 1.4v to 1.475 for the 2.5ghz setting. Everything works fine.

The Stock Vcore for a winchester is 1.5v..I'm running it at 1.45v.

Right now at :
CPU x 10
HTT x4
HT 250
and ram at 200 ( divider of 166 )
Temp at full load ( prime 95 ) is 45C with stock HSF

Now I could do like you did on the ram and pump it up to 208mhz..but to be honest I'm a little affraid to blow it...its only normal infineon ram with not HS

And Btw I allready did some stability test a while ago and i know that at 1.5V I can reach the 2.5ghz with no problem....but like i said..affraid to lose some speed cause of the ram....grrr...any chance of blowing the ram up? or will the computer just be unstable or shut down?

208mhz wont hurt your ram. By the way I am running on Corsair value VS ram which only goes up to about 210 before hitting errors on prime95 or memtest.

Also your divider of 166 should run your ram at 208 not 200.

I have several sticks of Corsair Value Select and Kingston Value RAMs. All will run at 275MHz FSB with a 5:6 memory divider. If your have the 3200 chip, then gradually increase the FSB by 2MHz and check Prime95 for error (run for 5 minutes). Keep the CPU Vcore at 1.55V, RAM voltage at 2.7V, and LDT at 3x.

Ok..something is wrong....I've tried the setting you suggested...I even tried the conservative 133 selection for the ram speed...nothing cuts it...the computer freeze at the startup screen...hek....wont even do the IDE check.....I was lucky ..after 5 try I was able to reach the BIOS...
any hint on this?

Dude, the 133 devider is EVIL! EVIL I TELL YOU! Use the 100, if you must.

Ok But how do you explain the same result with the ram at 166?

Or should I say...the same lack of result...
