I'm am very much new to PC building, OC, anything PC of any kind. I know a little bit, the small stuff.
Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram
660 ti 2gb (Gigabyte OC stock) new
750 power supply new
Just a bit of a background story, so anyone reading this understands whats going on.
I got the 660 because I'm going to use it on a newer system, at least that's the plan. My previous GC was an 8800 GTX, awesome card because it lasted me almost 7 or so years. While the 8800 was good, I tried to OC it... And as I'm new to OC I read a few threads and sites on how to do it and went slow on the OC, to the point where the GC freaked out on me. I've restored it to the factory settings. Ever since then Ive had these "ant" like flickering specks appearing on the screen. Now they only appear when I start the system up from cold boot and maybe from sleep. These specks go away if only on the screen for a few minutes. This was happening for a good few months, if not for a half a year. The card is not dead.
Now because the 8800 was experiencing this weird problem I figured getting a new GC would be the best choice. Getting the new GC was the best choice up until it started to have the same problem, not even a few days into it. Alright, I thought. Brought the card back and explained the problem to see if it's the GC or not, the guy said most likely and gave me a new one. Well the new one is now experiencing the same problem. Keep in mind that the 660 was OC when I got it and all the card have the same problem. The 660's are new, the 8800 is about 7 years on and did not have this problem till I tried to OC it.
I did not try to OC the 660's.
The problem I am having is related to artifacts, at least I think it is. I've done some research on this and even though it's not the same as some of the pictures I have seen, it's close.
I would really appreciate all the help anyone can give as to changing some setting, changing OC settings, anything really.
This is from the Gigabyte OC Guru II
