Oc 2600m temps, at 41 idle at 1.600

I am curious about my temps, i am running the chip at 11X215 FSB, at 1.600, not quite prime stable, but I am sure its the memory for now, I got the Sp-97 thermalrite, and the 92mm vatnec tornado, running at whatever I want it to with the controller, but even at max fan its about 40 idle, I think this a bit high, but I dont know for sure, would lke to up the chip more, but I really dont want to crank the fan up that high, its damn loud. Its an amd 2600 xp-m, on an Abit NF7-s version 2 board, using nvidia system utility thats what the temps are reading about 41 idle, board at 21. Oh and should i have the fan blowing onto the heatsink, or sucking air off of it.

Check and make sure the heatsink has even pressure around it, also check and make sure that the paste is on right, I have the same cpu, mb, and cooler as you and I run 2.7ghz 1.9vcore and 45 load with a thermaltake smart fan on it

hmm, yeah I will have to check that, I should order up some arctic silver or something, because these temps are to high, for that little of overclock, damn, well..

Perillo, I have 2600+ running at 2.2 Ghz @ 200X11. I can hit 215 @ 1.7. When the room heater is running, I have 40 idle and 41.50 after a session of Doom. I have the same cooling setup too, check my rig. Also if the heating isnt on, it idles at 37 and system temp at 24. And I use artic ceramique, if it helps.

CD.

i have close to the same setup as you do: nf7-s v2, 2500+M, sp-97. i usually use a fairly generic 92mm fan, as i hate the noise of the tornado. however, i seem to get much better temps than you do, i usually load around 39 and idle at 28 or so. this is currently clocked at 204*11 @1.616 actual vcore. using as3, that is probably the difference.

I just spent the evening trying to see how far this processor can go. I managed to get it to boot at 2525@ 1.775 with 210 FSB. But prime 95 torture test wouldn't last for more than a couple of minutes. So I now I've been running it at 2400@1.7 V with 200 FSB but the temps after about 15 minutes of prime 95 are sitting at 48.50 C and 30 C system. Is this too high cause I've been thinking of removing the HS and layering the thermal compoud again? Though I wonder if the thermal compound can make so much of a difference.

whatever, those temps are really good for a generic fan. Can you tell me what your system temps are so that I can get an idea of your ambient temps? Thanks.

CD.

Whats a good way of applieing equal pressure to the heatsink, and also, how should my fans in my case be set up for the best possible cooling, I have a side 120mm blowing right at my vid card, an exhaust 80 on top about 3 inches away from the psu, and the standard case fan as exhaust in the back. Is this optimal are there any better alternatives, I have thought of ducting with cardboard.
