I'm looking for a quiet overclocking solution for my soon to be bought XP 1600+. Right now I'm leaning towards a Thermalright AX7 with a Panaflo L1A fan. Will this be enough cooling or do I need to head in a different direction? tia.

Yea, I plan on adding an extra exhaust above my power supply and replacing my intake fan. This plus doing some cable management should solve any airflow problems that might exist.

Thats a great choice for quiet cooling, you can OC with that setup but it's going to get hot.I've run a L1A on my SK6 & my AX7 & it makes a great combo,if you plan on pushing that XP 1600 to the max you should look at a variable speed fan like the YS Tech to get a good cooling/noise setup.

I'm running an AX7 with the tri-lighted Antec Fan( 2600RPM,28dBA,32.5CFM) @10.5x180... the CPU Temp is under 46C's and I can not hear it

Running a 1600+@ 1575 MHz with a Panaflo L1A + Alpha PAL8045 here. Stable as a rock, but my temps are kind of highish... 49-50C idle, 57-58C after running Prime95 for 2+ hours (I'm at default voltage, temps using the internal diode, case temp ~27-28C). The loudest component in my system is without a doubt my power supply fans, and that's a mod just waiting to happen ;)

How does the Papst 8412NGL compare to the Panaflo L1A and the YS Tech? Anybody use this?

Please see here.

I have two 1600+ o/c to 1.75ghz, 166mhz FSB. One is using a Alpha 8045 with a Panaflo, and the other is using a $15 Taisol HSF. Neither system has any case fans. Just the PSU and the HSF..both systems have passively cooled videocards as well. :)

Also, if I had the choice between my $15 Taisol or any of Thermalright's products, I would choose the Taisol. The AX-7 is well over the weight spec of the Socket 462, and it's relies on those three small plastic tabs to hold it on....no thanks.
