Can you imagine what his polls would look like if the media relentlessly hammered him like they did GWB? The number is low now, imagine if the media didn't adore him and the nobel committee didn't nominate him based on things he might do in the future etc etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will translate into defeat in the 2012 election, but still good to see the people waking up.

I guees it was just my imagination that Obama was hammered for a WEEK for playing golf by the media.

I guess you forgot there's a rather large part of the media that's MISSION is to attack Obama for everything he does.

We may be seeing a bottom in how people feel about the economy. Looks like job numbers are getting better. Obama just has to worry how he'll look before the next election.
Yeah, I thought his approval would be getting better over the past 6-12 months due to the economy slowly improving.

But now I think it's the gas prices, and prices of food and everything, that will bring him down this year.

I think a kindergardner could speak better than GWB and a second grader would be smarter. There is a reason he was made fun of by COMEDIANS not hte fucking media.
Is Barack Obama George W. Bush?

President George Bush will never be remembered positively for his vernacular or his pronunciation of the word "nuclear." "Bushisms" include his "Brownie, you're doin' a heck of a job"; "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"; and "Mission accomplished," just to name a few. Certainly there have been calendars, books, news show segments, and other satirical slights dedicated to the poor education of George Bush. Yet President Obama is not without his missteps: "57 states"; "UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? It's the Post Office that's always having problems" (this while discussing how a federal takeover of health care is a good thing); and "On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes...and I see many of them in the audience here today" -- once again, just to name a few.

Show how I was proved wrong, and I'll paypal you $100 right now.

you always seem to turn threads into personal attacks or personal slights. Its kind of distracting to actual discussions...

maybe you should take them into pms..

just a thought..

Lets look at GWB v Kerry in 11/2004. GWB was unpopular and Kerry should have won, but Kerry failed to connect with the American people. I think if Kerry had run as totally opposed to GWB he would have won, but instead he tried to run as a smarter version of GWB.

So to some extent, it depends on the popularity of Obama's opposition come 11/2012.

But with the extreme right wing of the Republican party so popular with only itself, if the GOP runs an extreme right winger in 2012, its a slam dunk that Obama will win. Meanwhile if the perception becomes, that weeping John and his merry tea partiers collapsed the economy, its another Obama slam dunk win. And the end of the GOP.

In politics, six months is an eternity, so color me as saying, its way way too early to tell.

Sure, so how was I proved wrong here again? You and your fluff girl manimal dodged the question.

What are you babbling about now? I never said anything about you being right or wrong, I simply referred to your extreme level of political knowledge as evidenced by your mention of Reagan, then you flipped out and starting crapping yourself all over the thread.

Don't worry, friend Nick, I didn't take your words personally. We all say things we don't mean sometimes.

Were you alive when Bush was President?

Were you?
The mainstream media did not push. Did you see how the media's coverage of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq retreated to just a reporting on the week's/month's death count when there was a particularly bloody day?
"10 died today. That brings bring's this month's total to 42, making it the bloodiest month this year." If it had been a Democrat in office with Fox News "reporting", Fox News would have been on his ass to justify every death with endless emotional commentary on how, "This war just isn't worth it."
When public opinion on Bush soured the mainstream media certainly took the opportunity to highlight a greater range of his missteps, but they did not knight him God like Conservative Talk does with Democrats and Obama. Bush was never, "The font from which all things come," with 24/7 pulled opinions on how that font is completely poisoned.

"This just in: The Sun rises in the east. We'll tell you how this is bad, and how it all leads right to Obama, right after this."

This is the very definition of revisionist history. Yep, you weren't around or paying attention when Bush was president. You have got to be kidding me if you honestly believe this.

But kudos for the Fox jab, you hit all the talking points in a single post. Obama is president now, with 3 wars and soldiers still dieing. Where is the front page news on that like it was every single fucking day with Bush? If you read the news there is little to nothing mentioned about the 3 wars, nothing. Not a single article. Like it isn't happening.

Face it, this president is absolutely hated much more so than Bush. The level of hate for him thickens the air and 2012 can't come soon enough.

I'm a bit torn on this. Intrade gives odds favoring Obama by almost 20 points, and Nate Silver favors him at almost 2-1 odds. From a practical betting point a 1-1 bet is a no brainer, any sane person would take your money.

The thing is that I really think you're mentally ill. Not only does this call into question if you'd actually pay me, but it also might be immoral to take the money of someone who's not really in full command of their faculties.

What do other people think? If more people say I wouldn't be a bad person than would, and we can find a reliable way to enforce payment, I'll do it. I'd be stupid not to take your money.

I think he already bet Perknose once. He paid right? Go for it. It's still really early so you're taking a big bet.

People arent waking up. They're just as brain dead as ever. The media doesnt suck his cock anymore, so the general public just assumes he is a shit bag.

Now us thinkers already knew he was a shit bag, but we didnt need a shift in media attention to tell us that, so this isnt exactly news.

I'm really not. Incumbent presidents have been re-elected at greater than a 70% rate throughout the years. The thing that would probably tank Obama would be a failing economy, but that appears to be improving, and the Republican field is weak.

It's not that I (or anyone else) can predict the outcome of the election with any certainty, it's that the historical record and current trends strongly favor him. At even odds that's a pretty great bet for me.

Bet or no bet? If your so smart you should be able to hedge it.

Ps - I won 300 on the ak derby so I'm not new to this game.

I don't care if you're new to betting or not, the way you post makes me think you have pretty significant emotional problems, and picking on someone like that isn't exactly the noble thing to do.

I'm going to be travelling for the next few days, but I'll be back home on Thursday. I'll check this thread then (and do me a favor and PM me to remind me, because I have a bad memory like that), and so long as everyone doesn't think it's too mean of me to take advantage of a disabled person, I'll do it. If anyone even cares at all that is, haha.

That's what you call a no bet. No money where the mouth is.

I always like gentlemen wagers. I feel bad taking money from people with disabilities...besides if the all knowing 501 says it will be then it will be so! :p
