if on some remote chance this game turns out to be failure, i am quite certain i will be turning back to WoW. already been thinking of rerolling as a priest and my brother as a warrior, to purple/orange out.

I found Morrowind to be very blah. I really hope that this one will be good. It looks good.. and i'll probably buy it, but it's so damned expensive I don't really want to buy it because i'm so worried that it will end up sucking. Pretty soon games are going to price me right out of the gaming market :\ $60 for a PC game is just getting too high.

To anyone who's interested, a couple of the preview articles have mentioned the kind of system they were allowed to play on. Here is a quote from one article:

Graphics look like they're still being optimized. The rig they set me up on was a powerhouse--a Dell 3.4GHz packed with an ATI X1900 512MB card. The video settings were set at a modest 1280x768 and anti-aliasing was turned off. There were some occasional stutters, and I could (albeit on rare occasions) see some stitching lines between textures. Performance seemed pretty similar for this machine as it was for the Xbox 360s running Oblivion on the other side of the room.

A couple other articles listed here also mention a 3.4Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM, and an X1900. One previewer said that the game ran perfectly smooth for him and that load times were pretty quick, but noticeable.

Man, thats sounds like it might be rough on midrange systems then. I guess I'll wait and see what reviewers and initial reports say on the performance issue.

My system happened to die a few weeks ago, so I'm going to wait until some Oblivion reviews and benchmarks come out next week before piecing together a new system.

damn, i can't wait.

gogamer is kinda pissin me off with a ship date of 3/21 a day later than everyone else 🙁

i emailed them because if thats true, i'm getting it elsewhere 😛

I've been looking forward to this game for a while, but I don't think I'll be able to run it very well since both my CPU and RAM are precisely between the minimum and the recommended specs...

Oh well, at least I should be graduating and starting a full-time job this summer so I'll finally be able to upgrade my computer. For the first time in my life, I'll have truly disposable income! Woohoo! Look out debt, here I come! 😉

i'm buying a couple of games soon after Oblivion comes out. It will either be Civ 4 and GalCiv2 or Civ 4 and Oblivion. I'm leaning towards the former because my system (AXP 3000+, 9800 non pro, 1gb ddr333 ram) might crawl with oblivion. At any rate, i'm really looking forward to read what the fellas on ATSF have to say about Oblivion as a game and it's performance on many different rigs.

I'm sure it'll be a great game...

As far as performance wise

Morrowind wasn't the most optimized game in the world..
