Oblivion, Widescreen, Custom Resolutions

Having just purchased, and loving, a new Viewsonic Vx2025vm 20.1 Inch Widescreen I powered up Oblivion to see it wonderfully rendered in 1680x1050. But I'm running a 6800GS which is a great card but not quite powerful enough to run the game with the settings I want(HDR+Distant Land).

I can't for the life of me figure out how to set a lower widescreen resolution in Oblivion. Cause overall the game looks good but It runs like crap on just about every computer.

What I have tried
I cant set custom resolutions via Nvidia software.
Oblivion.ini manual resolution setting doesnt work. Game crashed on launch.

I have search all over online for a solution to this problem, but I cand find one. HELP!

What custom resolutions are you forcing? Make sure that they're proper 16:10 resolutions like 1280x720 or 800x480.
