Oblivion Strategy Guide

I almost picked up the guide at the mall when I got the game. I think they were gonna give 10% off...? I'm an RPG noob and Oblivion seems sooooo involved. I picked one up.

I'm doing every side quest that comes my way. I think I'm over 35 hours and I've only done 2 Oblivion gates. Though I've done tons of other things. And with the fair instability of the game, I've never been so happy about a game having an auto-save feature.
 
Heh.. I know I'm way past 95 hours, and I purposly waited to do the gates. Just finished my 1st one... All guarded by almost nothing by storm at's now... Yikes...
 
I can't see playing this game without the guide, you'd have to have a laptop with a browser open non-stop...
 
The guide for this game (and Morrowind, if you haven't played it) is an absolute MUST.
I've put a good 50 hours into this game so far. I finished the main quest, the Thieves Guild quest, and grabbed every city quest i could find. Now I'm working Mage's guild...

lol, no kidding. i wish it auto saved each time you go through a door. i lost 1.5 hours yesterday going through a cave. and this is on the xbox 360 version (which is pretty stable by the way). some critter was hitting me through the floor and my summoned daedra was tweaking out b/c he couldn't find him hehe.

I ordered right before I posted and yesterday I got an Email saying my order had shipped. I haven't tracked it though.
 
I'm considering becoming afflicted with vampirism before taking on anymore oblivion gates. Fight them on their own terms! I may consider the strategy guide, but I played the previous two so much I think I've gotten the hang of these games.

pyro451, thx for the alternative link. Tried repeatedly to order for os.com but they never did confirm the order, just ground away indefinitely at the last screen, so ordered fr amazon instead for just a few pennies more.

my advice to you is to have everything you need for the cure BEFORE you become a vampire. it can be hell trying to collect certain things after you become a vampire.

I didn't like being a vampire. it sucked.

It runs surprisingly smooth for a newer game IMHO. I do have 2GB RAM though. That may help.
 
My guide just arrived from Overstock. Guess I'll be doing some reading on the best character choice then playing some Oblivion tonight.
 
My guide showed up yesterday a little banged up from being stuffed in the mailbox, but nothing to prevent me from reading it. It's been a long time since I bought a strategy guide, are they all full color now? Wow.

I think the last guide I bought was for Master of Orion II... Looks like folks can still order the guide, so jump on it while you can!
 
Got mine. According to the guide there is one opportunity for improvement in my character creation but I don't think I want to give up the 30+ hours already invested in the game to fix it.
