Oblivion Slow Downs?

I'm on

3200+ Amd 64
2 gigs of ram
7800gs
windows xp sp2

and ...

Oblivion will run fine for a minute and then it will have about a 5 second pause, and then run fine again for another minute. Very annoying. I'm emulating it on Power ISO (yes I have a legal copy, yes I hate having cds in the drive) if this can point some direction into what's going on. I also only have about 20 gigs left on my 300gig drive so if low disk space plays into it then I'll change that as well.

Doesn't matter what settings I'm on either - 800x600 versus 1280x1024.

I am not familiar with PowerISO--and in fact i dont believe oblivion tries to access the cd during play--but it could be that if you are running around and its triyng to load anything off the cd it could be causing a hangup.

Also as long as you own the game howbout looking into a nocd update for oblivion--that would eliminate any questions about poweriso.

There are also tons of Oblivion tweak guides for performance that are out there--maybe following the steps in there will help you out plus in case something was accidentally change going over the guide would fix it.

Try getting a no CD crack man. Im doing the same thing as you but i justed a no CD crack to get around it.

Alright, I tried the no cd crack and it seems to still do the odd loading thing.. god damn.
