Basically, I've re-installed Oblivian numerous times, tried different drivers and graphic settings (AA on off etc), but every single time I get the same issue.

During the character creation mode or in game, after just 5 mins the mouse cursor freezes.
The game is still running as I can see my character blinking etc, but I cannot move the mouse at all.
If I cntrl+Alt out the mouse moves fine, but everytime after just a few mins in game the mouse freezes.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It's so frustrating.

SLI OC'd 7900 GT, Opteron 170@2.6ghz and DFI Lanparty Expert as the hardware.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like you video cards are overheating? Does this happen in other games. Maybe try looping 3dmark and see if it freezes.

My mouse was really sluggish during the character creation screen, but that may be due to my crappy video card. If you see blinking, I doubt it's your video cards. Also, if the torches aren't moving, that's fine, game is paused. Have you tried reinstalling mouse drivers? Using generic mouse drivers or a different mouse? Sounds like input problem if the rest is running. I once had a dying mouse do this ALL the time, and it actually managed to lock up the entire system. Took me months to figure it out since the mouse DID work, but it skipped around a lot, and I didn't see the designs (ok, I'm blind).

I've been reading user reviews on gamespot, apparently the game is very buggy in its current state. Wait a few weeks for a patch.

Ok, I guess thats the only thing left to do.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

I've tried BIOS update and mouse driver re-install.

Still, nada.

You've tried reinstalling the mouse drivers, but have you tried a different mouse or plugging it into a different USB port (ifit's USB)?

you have a better video card than i do but i have a faster processor. WHats your ram? I have 2 ghz and i have little problems with the game. I would say its a loading issue. I do notice a pause at some moments when the game switches music as well for me.

I don't have any issues. Game is loading fast, no pauses, mouse always moving. I don't use virtual ram file on HD so maybe that will help you guys out? Good luck and BTW I like Oblivion on PC more than on XBOX360 because on xbox it gets really choppy in the cities where a lot of people is on screen.

I've got an A64 3200+ @ 2.4 ghz, 2gb of DDR and a slightly overclocked X800XL and it runs just fine at 1024x768 on high settings except when traveling outdoors between zones then it drops to 20-25 fps and is a bit choppy, using the 6.2 Omega drivers.
