Hey, they applied some AF on the PS3 version!

Thats what I thought as well, the ground textures look a lot better...like when AF is enabled on the PC.

The PC still looks much better, and not just because of the mods available, but because of the tweak ability the PC has. Hardware to run Oblivion well enough to do it justice is readily available and affordable. Now, they just need to improve the game play.

Sure, the PC looks better--but for those that dont have the horsepower to run the game at comparable speeds at a console, the PS3 or 360 is a nice option.

I don't care for this console crap, the game was simplified, with dumbed down AI. If it was developed solely for PC, the AI would be something. And the game can be exceedingly low res. But I like it. :)
I just don't like the zombies. Things piss me off.
But anyway, I play it with 6x AA, HDR, and everything pretty much maxed out or sliders @ 85% maxed. I have one x1900xt, 2GB DDR2-800, and an AMD 4200, and it never lags. I'm serious.
ATi has won me over.

A new video card is cheaper than a new console.

Some people need more than just a new video card.

Exactly. CPU, RAM, PSU, Mobo...it just might require a complete overhall to get something comparible to the PS3's performance.

I played again last night, and man...what a great looking game!

what mods do you have loaded? Is that QTP3?

id like to know aswell

You want to know what texture packs I am running? I'll get the names and links, if I can find them, for you when I go home today, so check back here later. Thanks

EDIT: Ok the biggest difference comes from the LOD texture replacement pack, This one and This Although you will see a 10-15%% FPS hit from it. There are other LOD packs out there but I like this one for the quality/performance hit, other better ones hit the FPS too much.

The other texture pack I use is this. This one will slam your system though there are many different versions and they come in different packs also. The highest end ones bring a 8800GTX down pretty hard so if you are not running a super computer you may want to search for the slightly lower res versions.

Have Fun.

Right.....

depends on the card :p

if new = 8800GTX, then no.

if new ~~ X1900GT/1950GT (still solid cards), then yes, cheaper.

new for me would be X1900GT - which would be a sizable (and not that expensive) upgrade from an X850XT :)

I think the face screenshot looks better on the 360 but it's more of a subjective thing.
The outdoor shot looks better on the PS3 simply because of the skybox.
If you disagree I won't argue. The difference is slim.

All-in-all they both look great and there is little difference between the two. I guess the one big difference is the 360 folks are already finished with the game while the PS3 guys are just now getting it.

Of course the PC pwns all of them. It got released at the same time as the 360 and looked slightly better. That was then. Now that the PS3 version is out, PC graphics cards are another generation forward so it completely blows the consoles out of the water. This isn't even considering all the mods (and expansion!) that are now available.
