Too bad for the 360. This game needed mods right out of the box. Just one more reason why the PC is superior to consoles.

Yeah, it seems pretty obvious at this point that the visual quality on the PC version was nerfed to keep it in line with the 360 version as much as possible. Judging from how easily modders increased the visual quality on the PC, consistency with the 360 version seems like the only plausible reason the developers didn't do it themselves. The LOD terrain mod, LOD shadow map mod, better water mod, and better UI mod are basically must haves for anyone playing this game on the PC.Originally posted by: Thera

I think the original blurry LOD textures were legacy due to the Xbox 360. Since we're on a PC, with better hardware we can load and run these larger textures without much issue. It was probably a conscience design decision to keep the Xbox and PC version as similar as possible, it would also reduce design resources within the company to co-develop like that.
I'm just happy some of these mods are coming out. I'm not much for messing with the game but this, in my opinion, is essential.
