Oblivion Maxed out on X1900XT Stock

I just maxed out Oblivion with 6xHQAA + HDR using the chuck patch. I looks gorgeous !! Check out the screenshots.

I am getting about 20 FPS avg and 10 FPS lowest in the most dense areas (around oblivion gates). Its like a freakin slideshow at 10 FPS. Can't stand. Without AA Enabled, I am getting 32 FPS avg outdoors. Indoors is not an issue 🙂. All this is @ Stock speeds for X1900XT. Man...it blew my mind after jumping from ATI 7500 😛. I am just wondering, what are the avg FPS that you guys get in Oblivion?

i get anywhere from 30-50fps at 1440x900 2xaa full AF

x2 3800+ @ 2.6ghz
2gig gskill ddr430 2-3-3-6
7900gt @ 650/1950

not bad, and i dont think that 4xaa is enough of a help to account for performance hit so i play everything at 2xaa. LOVE my new widescreen LCD, oblivion looks soooo much better.

I'll post up some crazy looking ones in a little while, much better looking than those (no offense of course we have the same vidcard) but mine are with all the mods 😀

Yeah, with some of the tweaks, the game looks quite a bit better (although, to some extent the tiling of distant grass with higher res textures kinda annoys me in a way). I don't think the changes are really super mind blowing, but they're nice, and if you do the right tweaks will actually run smoother than normal.

Frackal, just make sure that you get pics where you can actually see. 😀

could you elaborate on these tweaks some? i'm interested...

The best my system can do without it turning into a slideshow.

here

About 45-20fps outside, getting the (no more hostile wolves/lions/bears every ten feet) mod helps ALOT! ......Infact so much so my grass distance and cell load is put well over max by means of .ini tweaks. Plus all the uncompressed highres LOD textures.

Oh I love editing 3 times because the url tag java is broken in this forum.

Except for all that aliasing... Even with a GX2, I had to trade off HDR for AA+bloom. Just can't stand the jaggies...

Well it depends on your monitor and resolution too, at 1920x1440 with a CRT(which btw has excellent dot pitch, so much so that I can see some jaggies) HDR without AA looks much much better than muddy bloom with AA. You can see jaggies, they just dont stab you in the eyes like it does on a LCD. ...infact I had to lower my outside screenshots to 1600x1200 to see them, intown with buildings its alot easier to see.

Glad it works for you...

How about mine?

Oblivion Pix

This is how I really play. 4xAA, 16xAF, HDR Get about 40-60 fps outdoors. Vsync and forced triple buffering used. 120 grass, many mods however, no new texture mods. They don't seem to fit in.

How do u get your ground to render so far? i know how to set tree draw distance to like 100ish , i also run my game hdr , 1920x1440 and 16xaf but my ground at long distance looks crap -.-.

Uh, dumb question. How are you enabling HDR and AA at the same time? Oblivion won't let me turn them both on.

Glad you asked

🙂

ATI x1k series has support for this type of HDR to run along side Anti-aliasing. Theres a special driver out from ATI to enable it.

As far as I know, I've not done anything special to see far away.

you need to enable it in your config folder-
my documents/my games/oblivion

change allowscreenshots from 0 to 1

but promise to take better shots than the OP 😛
