Looks like these guys yanked content out of Oblivion for their new game.

Blue's News picked up on it. Got a response from the publisher. Looks the the shit is really hitting the fan on this one.

Apologies if this has already been posted.

UPDATE: Trysynergy has pulled the game.

So far the game seems to have ripped off:
* Black & White 2
* Oblivion
* Morrowind
* Diablo (Skulls, Helm, the freakin' UI)
* Theif
* Silent Hill 3
* Painkiller
* Unreal Tournament 2003/2004
* Konami's Silent Hill series
* Troika's Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (PC)
* The 1997 film Spawn
* Pirates of the Caribbean

That's just amazing.

If you're pretending to develop a game, you could at least spend then $50 to get a webhost and domain for a year.

Limbo of the Lost or Oblivion?

We here at GamePlasma are continually asked to review a bevy of different titles. Occasionally, we run across games from smaller developers that just blow us away with their new and creative ideas. Sometimes we even notice strange things about the games we play. This holds true especially in the case of Eric Franck, Staff Writer, and his attention to detail.

Eric was recently assigned a game developed by Majestic Studios titled "Limbo of the Lost." At first glance, this game appears to be your typical point and click adventure again. This time, however, something seemed oddly familiar to him. Eric, being the avid PC gamer that he is, noticed that there were some similiarties between Limbo of the Lost and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

The first example of this can be seen in the screenshots from Oblivion and Limbo of the Lost below. Notice how everything is placed in exactly the same place and almost all of the textures are identical. In fact, the only real difference is the quality of the texture and overall graphical look. Even the portrait that can be seen under the stairs is exactly the same as the one that can be found in Oblivion. Also, take note of the placement of the rug in the middle of the floor and the placement of the stairways. These similarities lead to many questions. How rampant are situations like this in games that fall under the radar of the typical gaming crowd?

Limbo of the Lost

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Bethesda, publisher of Oblivion, did not have a comment at the time of posting. Tri Synergy, publisher of Limbo of the Lost, also did not have any comments at this time. I can assure you, however, that GamePlasma will stay on top of this and notify you as details are released.

In the next set of images found below, you can see the placement of all the furniture is nearly identical to the placement of the furniture in Oblivion. Notice that the coat of arms on the wall shares the same exact textures as those found in Oblivion. Click the thumbnails for larger images.

You bad man, very very bad man.

Well, at least they tried to cover it up by changing the contrast...

I first looked at the page with the screenshot comparisons and thought "this CAN'T be real. Nobody could be dumb enough to think nobody would realize the blatant similarities, even if the gameplay style is different."
Sadly, it's real, and there are people that dumb.
Wow.

Yep. Honestly, if you're going to copy someone else's work, don't copy it from a hit game nominated for game of the year by many outlets.

Oh. My. God.

This is the most hilariously entertaining thing to happen to the internet since Rick Astley.

Over on the Wintermute Engine game board one of the programmers (is there more than one?) doesn't know anything. You can see his posts asking how to do this or that, implement copy protection, etc.

Pretty pathetic.

This is pretty funny. So they just took screenshots of other games and then used some generic 2d point-and-clicker making program? Doing their own voice acting (and perhaps also nicking Patrick Stewart from Oblivion also?)

Following the trail of links from those given above leads to this article in a local Kent newspaper....

http://www.kentmessenger.co.uk...lt.asp?article_id=9644

Kent does have a little bit of a reputation in UK for having more than its share of 'geezers' engaging in less than 100% legit business practices. And um, well, not to stereotype, but the picture of the guys in that article does bring to mind Arthur Daley (non Brits - google it, but there must be a US equivalent) rather than John Carmack. I don't know, I'm almost tempted to hope they did make a bit of money out of it. Not a lot, mind, I mean a few rounds down the pub. Its just that the sheer brazenness of it is impressive. I'm guessing they don't really know much about computers, but reckoned they could make some dosh out of this 'ere 'video game racket'.

That's still messed up. If those guys actually did come up with the game, but blatantly stealing work like that from other people's property is theft.

That is a hillarious list. Too bad Tetris and Solitaire aren't in there or it would be perfect.
