For those that use Torque already, will it calculate average MPG or jsut show you the real time info?
Also, can I configure it to show me whatever I want on the screen? So if I want MPH, MPG, and Avg MPG and that's it, can it do that?

the only problem is that I don't have an Android device anymore. I've contemplated just buying an older Android smartphone to do it as I would want something more portable/stowable than a tablet. Any idea on what would be a good device to use? I'm essentially looking for the holy grail: cheap yet fast enough to be responsive. Obviously, used is fine!

How about a low end 7" tablet? I'd imagine the bigger screen would be a godsend for viewing "on the fly" (as if nobody has ever installed aftermarket gauges) and seems like you can get dual core 7" with Android 4.X pretty reasonably priced these days. Easily $180 or less for a big name brand, and the more decent Chinese knock-offs can be 2/3 that. 7" would still be a lot smaller than the high end 10" models.

If all you'd be using it for is Torque, you don't even need anything good. Any old tablet/phone would work fine. I'd just hit up Craigslist or find a friend who's upgrading their phone.

Will be ordering one of these soon

Cheapest android tablet I can find with gps, bluetooth, and micro sd slot

Have to figure out if I am going to mount it were the radio is located or custom make an enclosure for the top dash pocket

Drive a subaru forester and it has a double din radio so may get a single din and install it deeper or get a short one and install this in front of it

Some of the radios have android apps out now to control the radio
Haven't tried any yet to see how good they are though

Yes, you should be able to, assuming your car's computer has the data available.

I've got 6 gauges set on mine. GPS speed, fuel level, cylinder head temp, intake air temp, engine speed, and coolant temp. You can have it display anything it is able to log.
