Obamas Plan Fifth Vacation Since July

Didn't Obama lecture us on "naw, naw, naw, you can't be going to vegas in this economy, make no mistake, that's acting stupidly!"?

Yes, IIRC.

But I'm mostly thinking of all his calls for shared sacrifice.

Go on vacation, but FFS if I was his advisor I'd prefer him to tone it down a bit, and not pick super expensive 'elite' type places. I'd try to get him more into that Bill Clinton mode of 'feeling your pain' etc.

I suspect he's trying to play "Camelot"; I question if that's wise in these times.

Agreed.

Personally I don't care, but I do think the optics look bad. Constantly jetting around to uber expensive luxury resorts during this economy and unemployment is likely gonna strike some the wrong way. I'm thinking of independents and some Dems, Repubs aren't gonna vote for him anyway.

LOL

Reading your drivel, I guess he should just move out of the White House. Better yet he should just take public transportation. 🙄

Good for him and thanks for his service. That does not buy him a free pass here to make ridiculous and unsubstantiated remarks, however.

It's ok bro.. I was being sarcastic anyways.
Every time Jedi ( and several other posters in here who claim to be .mil intel) posts I understand a little more about why the US is in Iraq, and the countless times the .mil messes up

you new here or something?

yes it looks bad for Obama to be going on so many damn vacations with the economy in the shitter and so many people out of work. but to be fair its not like he is goofing off when on vacation. When a President is on vacation he is still working.

A number of his vacations have been on weekends, holidays and have been very short. From the link, he hasn't taken a vacation that was more than 1 non-weekend day since Christmas.

Good for him.

If you haven't noticed Obama's support or endorsement has been the kiss of death for any candidate.

Like Micheal Bennet? Oh wait he won....

OP

If you believe in family values and the rights of the people then why would you question anyone wanting to do something for themselves or more importantly their family?

For the optics to be skewed Obama would have to be driving around in an escalade or a ferrari with the kids spending the summer in monaco....

I actually think Obama has multiple look alikes and secretly goes out and plays basketball with wesley snipes and woodie harrelson for big money against players like prince, rick james, eminem and jay Z....

No. He said it was dumb to go to vegas and gamble with your kid's college fund. Big difference.

I understand the frustration about his excessive vacation.

I don't understand when the complaints come from hacks that never cared about how much vacation Bush took.

Such is politics I guess.

Quoted for absolute agreement. The hacks are hypocrites, plain and simple. Ideology and hate of their opposition have become more important to them then personal integrity or love of the country - just use the search function and search back a few years on the posts of any of these new found Bush critics, it really is amusing. Right nick? 😉

I think he catches flak not because of the amount of vacation, but because they come off as grandiose. I heard anger about his MV vacation and V-day dinner, but not about his stay in Yellowstone & Grand Canyon. Most of the vacation previous presidents took were to their homes.

The reason we're angry is because he said he will never rest until every American who wants a decent job has one.

Hello? We're at 10% unemployment. Get back to work. Now.

You have obviously missed all the old rantings of the democrats every time Bush went to his ranch.

Exactly. And reported constantly by the media as well.

The whole bush bashing means it's A-OK to bash obama and criticize him every single time he plays golf or goes on vacation, especially since he's even worse than bush in this category.

If new jobless claims last week were not at 484,000 claims, if Russia was not announcing that Iran's nuclear facilities would go live shortly, if the Fed was not buying up debt with debt, if we did not have a $1.4 trillion deficit, BP pulluting the gulf, etc... then I don't think much would be made of these vacations.

But here you have this president who wants everyone to have their piece of the pie... the same people who cannot afford to vacation... have to see the president jet off to chicago to goto oprahs birthday party or send the wife and kids to dine with the king of Spain. Kind of like saying... we all need to sacrifice in these times... well not me, I am off to Massachussets for a vacation. He is behaving just like the politburo did in the USSR. People stood hours in line for a stale loaf of bread while the leaders ate caviar.

Good for him.

When Middle America can afford to hop down to the Gulf Coast for the day in the family jet, your point might be valid.

As it is, his little "excursions" are quite expensive to the tax payers, even if they pay their own "personal expenses". When the president goes somewhere, they fly private chartered jets. The secret service goes, and they don't rent cars when they get there...they fly their own cars in. You can imagine how expensive that can get.
