Its like watching clowns onstage with this Administration. Seriously. They didnt realize Al Qaeda was so determined? What the fuck? Really?

Apparently they now realize hugs and harsh words might not be a workable solution.

Hope and Change.

Question: What was the most shocking, stunning thing that you found out of the review? And, Secretary, to you, as well.

MR. BRENNAN: Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula is an extension of al Qaeda core coming out of Pakistan. And, in my view, it is one of the most lethal and one of the most concerning of it. The fact that they had moved forward to try to execute this attack against the homeland I think demonstrated to us — and this is what the review sort of uncovered — that we had a strategic sense of sort of where they were going, but we didn’t know they had progressed to the point of actually launching individuals here. And we have taken that lesson, and so now we’re full on top of it.

SECRETARY NAPOLITANO: I think, following up on that, not just the determination of al Qaeda and al Qaeda Arabian Peninsula, but the tactic of using an individual to foment an attack, as opposed to a large conspiracy or a multi-person conspiracy such as we saw in 9/11, that is something that affects intelligence. It really emphasizes now the renewed importance on how different intelligence is integrated and analyzed, and threat streams are followed through. And, again, it will impact how we continue to review the need to improve airport security around the world.

Out of curiousity, was Brennan a dunce when he acted a director of the National Counterterroism Center under Bush, or was he smart then but suddenly became a dunce now that he works for Obama?

You know, there is often a group think that occurs. And being a dunce often stems from the mind meld.

How about if we just say - Dunces (Honorary) - and leave it at that.

How the hell can anybody legitimately act surprised that AQ would send over an "individual" to try and blow up a plane (or anything else for that matter).

Why the hell am I taking my shoes off at an airport? I thought it was because I, an individual, might try to hide explosives in order to blow up a plane.

In the larger picture what I find unacceptable is their theme of 'we didn't think about this new way to attack the homeland, a way that wasn't the like the other ways' (Notwithstanding that it's NOT a new way at all - see Richard Reid). That's just so much BS. We've all heard about efforts to game senarios in an effort to anticipate new avenues of attack and thwart them. Yet they act like that's irrelevent to their jobs.

IMO, the only thing shocking is the ineptness on our part; FFS the guy paid in cash, had no luggage and his father had warned us at our own embassy. Looks like we didn't pass that warning along to ourselves, I'd like to know if we passed it off to our allies. If we didn't and I were them I'd be angry.

Somebody's head needs to roll, this isn't our first rodeo; we've been in this business since 2001.

What you guys fail to realize is that Obama hates America.

Some will certainly say I’m crazy. Remember, America IS the Constitution of the United States of America. The words contained in that document comprise the beating heart of this Nation.

Obama the Figure head, Ayers the evil tactician, Wright the spiritual leader.

Stay tuned. The good guys will end up as the unquestioned authority.

Too much Mark Levine for you my friend.

Obama = Bush = Clinton = Reagan = Carter = Nixon = etc, for all intents and purposes. I sincerely doubt that either of them 'hate' america, it's just that our entire national political system is HOPELESSLY corrupt.

Oh yeah, before you say anything about Reagan being the reincarnation of Jesus (I like Ronnie, but lets be real here) .. he pulled us out of Beirut after the huge terrorist attack on our Marine barracks there, with nary a response. If that had happened under a Democrat, the talking heads like Levine and Rush would STILL be ranting about how weak Dems are. But no, not a whisper about that FACT, eh?

What makes you think I take my cue from Levin?

I share your frustration. Remember this, these guys are working for you and me. They take their cue from us, not vise versa.

That said, no one has the intellectual fathers that Obama has. It is that reason that I believe that Obama is particularly evil and rotten.

Remember, the good guys win in the end. The games not over, begin to act like a man certain of victory.

Our greatest President was keeping his powder dry for the spiritual war with Gorbachev. Remember "tear down this wall".

You give Rush and Mark too much power. They work for us. As any good employee, they make mistakes and need continual guidance by you and me.

ding, ding, ding - we have a winner. not sure about johnson but we do know about kennedy so maybe he was a true leader and, well, we know what happend to him - don't know personally, maybe some of you unbiased older people on here that lived during the kennedy and johnson times can weigh in as i can read about history, but there is nothing like the history from somebody who has lived it.

fwiw, i have read some history and seen some documentaries and it has been claimed that kennedy was our last legit president - i can't remember the sources just remember the statements. so after the kennedy example others fell in line and just do what they are told. our president is just a puppet position after all, at least now, it use to mean something.

The reason I associate you with Mark is that I can almost hear his voice narrating your words.

As for Beirut, given that Lebanon wasn't a Soviet satellite state, I don't think we would have had too much trouble from their end on an armed response. The Soviets were in the midst of dealing with similar troubles with the Mujaheddin in Afghanistan already, so the detente *might* have actually accelerated, had it been perceived that we were fighting a common type of enemy that was both anti Soviet as well as anti Western. The tricky part was our backing of the Mujaheddin in the first place, and our sourcing things like Stingers to them, which was well known by the GRU at the time.

All that aside, it's pretty much undeniable that the media whores of the left and the right are almost invariably hypocritical about issues such as these. The usual modus operandi is this :

(1)- Ignore all facts which do not either make your side look good, or make the other side look bad.

(2)- Discount all sources other than those which reflect your ideology.

(3)- Apply double standards at all times (ie; our side not responding to terror with an armed response = smart, their side not responding to terror with an armed response = weak).

I'm not purely pointing fingers at the GOP/Right-wing here, both sides are pretty dirty in this regard.

I'm a classical conservative who has long since given up on our national political scene, and IMHO complaining about Democrats doing the same stupid garbage that the Republicans have been doing is just asinine.

I agree with this. JFK shouldn't be lionized completely, he had some dirty ties in his earlier political career and was a world-class philanderer, but I truly think he was the last POTUS to give his 100% best effort towards doing the best job he could in support of the US citizenry at large. The handling of the Cuban missile crisis was absolutely perfect, we nearly had WW3, and almost certainly would have gone down that road had Nixon (or LBJ!) been at the reins. That is hypothetical of course, but it is my firm opinion. Directly behind JFK was Eisenhower, another clear winner in my eyes, his farewell address is eerily prescient given the past few decades. The Iranian CIA debacle is a stain on his record, but overall I hold him in very very high regard along with JFK.

I like your thinking :)

I say that. Just an hour ago I was thinking how it was inappropriate for me to give you a 'craziest person on AT' award, (It's still not right to name 2nd and 3rd here) but you made it appropriate.

Well I feel safer knowing this administration finally realizes AQ has progressed past the planning stages and into the implementation phase of sending lone bombers on international flights.

Have these bumbling idiots had their head in the clouds the past 8 years?!?!?!?!?!?!?
