I assume you're referring to this: https://www.google.com/amp/abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/us-veterans-charity-george-bush-charged-100000/story?id=32251253
I really never pictured myself defending W.... He negotiated a speaker fee for a charity who paid it because they collected more in donations from his support than they paid for. Additionally, I don't see evidence that he did not believe in their cause. Neither do I see evidence that he cheated them (although the question of his "usual" fee is a valid one). I do not find fault in questioning his morals nor in veterans being upset that he charged, but this is not a failing of integrity.
At the least, I find it both wrong and dangerous to draw any moral equivalence between Trump and W.
No one is attempting to draw any equivalence here, I feel my quote citing integrity was quite specific. You've avoided all that danger I suppose. I also don't believe there is need to venture into areas of belief or fraud here either, it's quite simple really: Bush personally profited from the patronage of people he sent off to be injured, maimed and crippled. Iraq being an unnecessary war, that was foisted with manipulated intel, only to create the clusterfuck with ISIS, really adds that extra bit of WTF here too.
I'm not sure how the hell that passes the sniff test with you. I just don't see how a person with integrity could do that, particularly when they come from a wealthy family, have a lifetime annual 6-digit stipend, and are supposed to hold the military and vets in high esteem.
Guess I'm just nuts like that.
