Did you all know just because banks get gov funds to help out borrowers, or to lend out to borrowers, or for any reason to help borrowers, that banks are under no obligation to use that money to help even one mortgage holder/home owner/borrower? The gov could give banks several trillion to help home owners, and as it stands now, banks are under absolutely no obligation to pass on one red cent in assistance to any borrower. Its true! So just because you hear the gov is making available funds for banks to help those in trouble, don't assume the banks are actually doing that. The are not. You're tax money is safe and secure with the banks, so they can gamble it away on more money losing schemes.

Ps. Don't put all the blame on Obama.... Remember.. de-regulation started with wonderful old President Ronnie Reagan. The BIG BAD GOVERNMENT, "lets de-regulate business and let them go wild", guy. Ronnie Reagan... a republican, as was GW Bush. The true founding fathers of the mess we are now in. Remember? Huh? I mean... lets place the blame where it should be placed.

In other countries, if you can't pay for your house, you lose it. In the US, they give it to you for free! No wonder all the mexicans want to cross here illegally.
In other countries, if you can't pay for your debts, you go to fail jail.

In the US it is evil if you have to sell your home to pay for a life saving procedure but it is the height of nobility if the government seizes it because you can't pay the taxes.

No. That's what makes it even more freightening. What is his real agenda? I guess we know looking at the people he surrounds himself with.

I hate to see America lose its uniqueness, but that's a function of us rather than him; we demand a nanny state and elect politicians who deliver. For all Bush's supposed cowboy conservatism he presided over an expansion of government that would seem incredible if not for Obama, and then we elect an ACORN agitator/lawyer who tells us exactly what he is going to do - grow the government's size and power at a rate that makes Bush look like Washington, seize the wealth, and "spread it around".

I wish we knew his true agenda. He surrounds himself with self-described Marxists, communists, and socialists, so it's clear the direction he wants to take the country, but that's a long road. How far do we go? Germany and even Sweden aren't bad places. But Red China, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea? Looking at all the lefties who say Communism is a great that just has never had a fair trial, frankly the Messiah scares the hell out of me. I'm as nervous as a lefty faced with paying her own bills or arranging his own health care.

Totally quoting this so you can't change it later.

Between Russia, China, and NK.. how many 100's of millions of people were killed in the name of Communism? Its mind boggling. As much as the progressives of this country like to portray the U.S. as a bunch of war mongers.. we could have 100 Iraq wars going for 100 years and not approach the #'s generated by those people. Lets hope we're not headed down THAT road.

Why on Earth would I want to change it later? What else would you call them?

As a rule, people who quote Chairman Mao as their favorite philosopher and speak well of Chavez's crack-down on a free press aren't exactly in the Socialist closet at any rate. Not to mention, as Obama Himself stated, He carefully selected his friends from the Marxists, socialists, and radical leftists - nothing's changed since His college days except His level of power.

And yeah, white chicks are pretty hot, but then so are some of those Mexican chicks. Throw Spanish features together with some Maya skin tone and there're none hotter.

As the poster jhhnn explained in some other thread; the government is trying to spread the impact of the (housing) financial disaster out over an extended period of time. This makes it manageable.

This program is just another tool to do that.

Sometimes you get to be the pigeon, sometimes you get to be the statue.

So you have a frugal saver who is waiting to pounce on a cheap house but the government is artificially propping up the market. How is that fair?

That so-called "frugal saver" is evilly hoarding wealth that should in fairness be seized and redistributed by the government. From each according to his means, to each according to his needs. (According to American high school students, John F. Kennedy said that.)

You said they described themselves as marxists. I haven't really heard this before. Do you have a source?

Van Jones referred to himself as a communist, which is a type of Marxist. That wasn't what got him fired though, or at least not officially - that was calling Republicans assholes. You can find that tape if you want. I know Glenn Beck had it, and I'm sure it's on Youtube.

How does "3-6 months of temporary aid" and "incentives to reduce payments or eliminate HELOCs" equate to "Obama to unveil plan to pay your mortgage"

Article said:
It also will include three to six months of temporary aid for borrowers who have lost their jobs. And there will be additional payments designed to give banks an incentive to reduce payments or eliminate second mortgages such as home equity loans -- a problem that has blocked many loan modifications.

This is why i stay out of P&N... too many chicken littles running around complaining the sky is falling.

Well,,,in this case,,,The money that the frugal saver is saving is pretty much backed up by the market that he wants to buy in to. That is what the bailouts were all about, wasn't it?

Without the propped up market, the money is no good...

I have no idea what you're saying. Propping up the housing market will not help the saver in any way.Let is fall. All of it. There are people with money in their banks who didn't go on those fancy vacations or buy those fancy granite countertops that want a good deal.
