Next up: Taking away body armor from our soldiers because it gives them an unfair advantage.

You wouldn't need to pay as much tax, the country wouldn't be bankrupt, there wouldn't be a need for so many soldiers, and no need for expensive body armors if the US doesn't invades other countries needlessly.

Well, I guess that poll that showed about 20-30% of Americans are basically divorced from reality about Obama is true. We've got all the people quoted above that seem to fit into this category nicely. This is AT's 20-30%. Good job guys. Keep dumbing down the country.

This "new" nuclear policy is not a drastic shift from our existing strategy. The United States still reserves the right to utilize nuclear retaliation in the event of a catastrophic biological attack, or against "outliers" like Iran and North Korea.

The only problem that I see with this policy is that it is too conditional. Should a scenario ever emerge where nuclear retaliation is a viable option, you don't want decision makers having to weed through lawyer speak rules of engagement.

All Obama did was "tone" down the aggressive posturing of his predecessors, but the strategy for all intents and purposes remains the same.

One problem as I see it is Obama likes to say the Cold War era is over, but the end of the nuclear weapons era is not. An "inconvenient truth" remains: Hard security and extended deterrence still matter. If we play our nuclear cards wrongly then maintaining peace and security in the coming years could be a disaster. The nuclear disarmament bandwagon may play well at home but it's not in fashion in places like Tehran or Pyongyang.
