Obama responsible for the poor response to Katrina

You either got a job at the Onion or have a serious case of dain bramage

Oh the irony! He's trying to prove just how stupid conservatives are. Too funny!
I'm missing something. Is it your opinion that this poll is satire or a hoax? If so, why? I realize PPP is a left-wing polling firm, but I don't see how they've loaded the question or distorted their sample (e.g., polled only people with an IQ below 50). What are we missing?

If you're unfamiliar with Scribd, here's the story from a more typical news source: http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/21197 . Were they duped?

This is pretty hilarious, but it's a common phenomenon. They polled 267 Louisiana Republican likely primary voters. That means you are polling the ultra right wing segment of an ultra right state. You could probably ask them who was more responsible for the Holocaust, Obama or Hitler, and still get a few Obama votes.

Answers like this are mostly the result of raging partisans who are desperate to find any way to voice additional disapproval of their political opponents. They rarely seem to notice or care that it will in the end reflect poorly on them.

There was a time when I could immediately discount that as a hoax, but the last ten years or so has taught me to never underestimate the ignorance of those completely enthralled by the Fox Noise echo chamber and it's affiliated orgs and personalities.

I've long despised that state though, this doesn't really change anything for me other than hoping, for the sake of humanity, that this is really just someone trolling news circles.

Why? Because they don't conform to your liberal views. These guys are idiots for believing it was obamas fault even though it would have been bad with him. But you can't blame them considering everything obama has done to them.

Uh... yes you can blame them. They are obviously lacking in mental capacity if they don't know who to blame more for the inadequate Katrina response, especially if it was a choice between then-President Bush or not-then-President Obama (But perhaps you rush to their defense because you so closely relate to the people polled). No matter what "obama has done to them", it doesn't mean Obama is a scapegoat for every other bad thing.

How is this any different than Democrats blaming Reaganomics for things that started in the 1970s?

Because one can reasonably argue that Reaganomics exacerbated trends that started in the 1970's or failed to rectify them. The economy of a country is a continuous event. Hurricane Katrina was a singular event.

Why do you need something so simple explained to you?

except it's fairly easy to argue that the economic prosperity of the 90's was due to the changes enacted under Reaganomics.

While I find that to be a highly dubious argument, that's neither here nor there. The question was the difference between an ongoing event (the economy) and a singular event (Katrina).

Wait, they polled only people with an IQ below 50?

The Hurricane was a singular event, but the damage is still there. Does Obama hate black people? He should have rebuilt it by now. :colbert:

Because obama doesn't care about them and only pandering to his base. He doesn't hate black people but he sure loves to support policies which hurt them.

Why did they even ask the question?

Maybe the respondents are so WTF at the question they don't know how to answer or decided to troll the polling company?

Or maybe they are low information voters, who let their preconceived ideas run roughshod over facts and logic.

Like some around here. :sneaky:
