Slash the military budget first.

Although I support a large military and heavy R&D, for far too long the military has been a sacred cow when it comes to trimming the fat. The military is just as pork-ridden as any other government agency, if not moreso. It is time we took a more serious look at their expendatures without the blind shouting of 'you don't support the troops!'.

This is exactly what Ron Paul would have cut first.

He even makes fun of Republicans who look to cut entitlement programs before cutting any of the $1 trillion we spend overseas.

Most people on this forum have zero idea about DoD Spending in general.

Here are a couple problems as I see it.

30 years ago the Government invested heavily into smart intelligent people. We kept the knowledge in house. We have since moved from investing heavily into GOTS and moved towards COTS products.

The government doesn't understand that we need to be moderate. There are needs for GOTS and COTS products.

The move to COTS products, the DoD relies HEAVILY on government contractors. We need government contractors but we can't afford to outsource all knowledge to government contractors. That is the typical way it works now. The government acts as management with all the technical work being performed by contractors. That would be ok if the government managers actually had the technical background to provide proper oversight.

So the first thing the DoD needs to do is REINVEST in itself. We need to move the technical work back to the government employees. We need to invest in government employees that have the governments best interest at heart.

Now I will hear the people complain that government employees are lazy. Well if you didn't know the DoD has moved away from the GS system for civilian employees. We now have a performance based pay system now. Under this system, firing people is easier. So there is no reason not to invest into our own people instead of outsourcing.

Actually Pay-Go is the best Idea to come in Decades. It certainly would, if adhered to strictly, control Deficits. If new Taxes are required, then they are required. It makes no sense to increase Program Spending and not ensure the necessary Funding to go with it. If you don't want more Tax, don't create more Programs on top of what is already there.

And diets, if adhered to strictly, would make everyone thinner. But there's still lots of fat people around.

Yet some people succeed. Failure is a possibility, but so is Success. Doing nothing gaurantees Failure.

From the CNN.com story about the proposed PAYGO law:

"Some costs would be exempt, including Medicare payments to doctors, the estate and gift tax, and tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2002, the White House statement said. "

So exceptions are already being carved into the law, and it hasn't even been passed yet! It just seems like yet another feel-good/do-nothing smoke-and-mirrors measure.

You have to have some exceptions. Just as Balanced Budget Laws need exceptions as well. Circumstances often can not be predicted and often warrant actions that go outside the Norm.

While President O'Bamma is at it, he can pay all the funds that Congress stole from the Social Security Fund.

Kalyan Rachakonda has started at least eleven separate accounts on our forums since 2004, and he has been as malicious under every one of them.

I make no apologies for posting his personal information. If he doesn't like it, maybe it will discourage him from trying again, but knowing what POS he is, I doubt it will sink in.

Probably should check with lawyers before posting personal info. AT isn't some random forum, it's a revenue generating website. Would be a shame if it all went away because of a troll.

It wouldn't be the trolls fault.
