Obama once again playing king. Making up laws through exceutive orders

is there some sort of email list that you belong to that gives you message board content to post? because nearly this same title was used on another board i frequent.

Wow, what a bullshit article. I particularly liked
But Mr. Obama has to be careful how he proceeds because he has been critical of both Mr. Clinton’s penchant for expending presidential capital on small-bore initiatives, like school uniforms, and Mr. Bush’s expansive assertions of executive authority, like the secret program of wiretapping without warrants.
Not a single mention of Obama's drastically expanded secret program of wiretapping without warrants even while mentioning Bush's?

I hope a republican comes in, and just opens the country for drilling and coal burning everywhere. just to spit in the face of liberals that like to go around how laws should be made.

Never mind what is good policy, let's just do things "to spit in the face" of the opposing political sports team.

Oh, and Obama is not making up laws. Read your own article. The SCOTUS ruled in 2007 that an act of Congress gave the EPA the power to regulate carbon emissions. Obama can legally order them to implement specific regulations by executive order provided that the agency in question has been given regulatory power by Congress, which according to the SCOTUS, it has.

You act like you have a clue about how legal processes work.

And I forget; how many times did you point out the "kinglike" actions of GWB?

The sudden aversion of conservatives to "executive orders" like they are some form of backdoor totalitarianism, is quite amusing. I don't think they actually get that the POTUS can issue any orders it wants to the executive branch, and that certain agencies in that branch have been given regulatory powers by Congress. They think the POTUS is actually making new laws.

Right about February, 2009 seems to be when they found this sudden aversion to the "executive order." It doesn't appear any of them gave it much thought before then. They're clearly not giving it much critical thought now.

I doubt most of them were even particularly aware of the existence of executive orders until they started getting email forwards telling them about how Obama was going to ship them off to FEMA camps with executive orders.

By the way, what ever happened to those FEMA camps?

Liberals love to complain about how jobs are being lost yet are perfectly alright with shutting down coal plants which will kill jobs. Hypocrites.

Your guy was against executive orders.

We're just calling him out on his BS.

You elected the liar in chief, and apparently have no problems that you were lied to.

like wolfee you guys on the left are stuck on stupid.

you guys elected the liar in chief, that claimed he was different. The guy that was angry about Bush using executive orders.

Then he turns around and does the same thing. Hmmm. Why aren't you upset he lied to you.?

Oh that's right, he's your guy so now its ok.

Obama was not against executive orders.

/facepalm

As I recall it was Bush/Cheney's heavy use of signing statements people had a problem with (except Bush voters of course, for the most part). I don't recall an executive order hubbub at all.

Link anyone?

Is OP just confused, or trying to avoid addressing another double standard?

It's no secret I've had my issues with Incorruptible. We've had more than a few wars of words. In the last few days you've taken any issues I've had with Incorruptible and blown them out of the water. To the point where he's been a voice of reason in some of your threads. You've just lost it dude. Like tin foil hat and diaper wearing in a padded room fucking crazy.

That doesn't mean any of my issues with Incorruptible are gone, they're just eclipsed by your asshattery.

We need more coal plants to create jobs but obama and his cronies are too stupid though.

I am the farthest thing from a tree hugging liberal and am very familiar with the reality of our energy situation and even I am not calling for new coal fired plants. If you would have said nat gas I would have agreed but coal, as currently implemented, is pretty damn nasty. Its one reason I have never understood the issue people have with nuclear power. They argue that something might go wrong and it might injure people/property so instead we have relied more heavily on coal with we know for a fact absolutely does injure people.

Hmm, I wonder if the same ruling would give Obama the power to issue an executive order to the NSA to stop spying on US citizens without probable cause?
