Too bad for the raging conservatards, Romney said it first while running in 2008.

So is it still something to rage about now?

The President is right, he can't solve this problem by himself. So long as the national GOP acts as a monolithic jackbooted thug gang Washington simply will not function. IMO, two things should happen ASAP: (1) the Senate should amend their internal rules so eliminate the supermajority (60 vote) requirement, excepting of course, those situations mandated by the Constitution (such as treaties and (2) Washington must be changed from the outside, We the People (as one extremist here is so found of saying) must vote the intrasigent and wackadoodles out of office.

It would be nice too if the GOP members followed their constitutents' wishes instead of being beholden to lobbyist Norquist.

Why do you think Congress has an approval rating approaching single digits?

Yep, it's right in the article.

During his 2008 campaign, Romney himself told reporters, ”I don’t think you change Washington from the inside. I think you change it from the outside.”

What a fucking dickhead that guy is. The desperation is showing. Sorry Mittens, but calling on the American people for change is not the same as telling 47% of them to go fuck themselves.

You seem to be supporting his point. Polls repeatedly show that Americans tend to oppose the thing called Obamacare, the ACA but when polled on each individual part of the plan, they overwhelmingly approve of it.

They love the fact that children can remain on the plan until age 26. This costs virtually nothing for insurers since its rare for people that young to get sick but also prevents a catastrophic occurance (i.e. cancer, freak car accident) from destroying their life.

They love the pre-existing condition part, they love the closing of the donut hole, etc.

More Americans didn't want Obamacare than did. The passing of that abortion of a healthcare bill was the ultimate example of how things get done IN Washington - closed door meetings, 'have to pass the bill to see what's in it', granting exemptions to get enough votes. Yep, real outside DC for ya.

Revisionist history. Obama ran on health care reform, the nation favored it overwhelming. But then the Koch bothers, Fox News and slew of Tea Party idiots spent months spewing lies in the media. Support dropped, but that was just the effect of propaganda and a boogeyman version of the legislation. The pieces of it are still supported, the general public is just so dumb they are easy to influence with fear.

Which is so bizarre since Obamacare got passed by completely marginalizing the American people, who were thoroughly against it. There wasn't even a desultory attempt to sell it to the American people until it was law. As Pelosi said, "We have to pass the bill so you can see what's in it." Typical Obama politician dishonesty.

Obama's biggest problem is that he's trying to change D.C. into Chicago, one of the few American governments worse than D.C.

Agreed except for the highlighted. This would assume that he actually knows what he is doing, he does not. The fact that D.C. is going the way of Chicago is nothing more than Obama being a product of his environment just like the rest of this are. I don't think he is doing anything active to make this happen but he also sure isn't stopping it either. As I started with, he doesn't know what he is doing/talking about and frankly, how could he?

An op-ed piece is not science. You have been told this over and over again. God Damn you are dumb.

Holy shit. An article that says mass attracts mass isn't science either. It is a statement of what science has discovered. Please don't call me dumb since you are an imbecile yourself. No actually not. You are motivated to use your intelligence to blind yourself from reality and you are very good at it. You are probably a genius at keeping yourself in a moronic state.

LOL, you can change Washington from the outside alright... if you're a lobbyist! Hate to say it, but I don't expect Washington to solve the problems facing Washington and this country.

Of course you can change washington from the outside. Backroom deals, bills that have to be passed to know what's in them, exemptions for buddies, lobbyists writing sections of the bill, that's pretty much all grassroots public support from the outside world changing DC ;) LOL comedy gold.
