people fish the bayous here, presumably to eat. obama is taking food off their table. making the people even more beholden to the .gov welfare. the permanent underclass becomes even more beholden to democrats. the unassailable democratic majority takes shape.

Obama's dealing with a deep seated memory from his childhood....

\lol at the republican rage junkies....

There is a major leap across a chasm that should not have been done.

Just because environmental groups are opposed to fishing and they provide input to some of Obama's policy advisors DOES NOT mean that Obama will issue an executive edict.

LOL!

I suspect at the end of the day Obama will not allow this in an executive order, not because he is ideologically opposed but because he doesn't care that much either way and it would obviously cost him votes. LOTS of votes. Still, the fact that he appointed these people shows how far left he is at heart.

Holy jump to conclusions batman.

This is Obama we're talking about here. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he pulled this stunt. I think he's on a mission to make sure he can piss off as many people as quickly as possible. There's no other explanation for his boneheaded policies, words and actions.

I wouldn't eat ANYTHING that came out of a bayou near Houston unless I wanted my yearly allowance of random toxic waste in one sitting.

Unless my sarcasm meter is broken again. :awe:

You're frothing at the mouth again.

Riiiiiigggghhhhht. Obama secretly hates fishing. That's the only logical conclusion. Because he is liberal, and of course the more liberal you are the more you hate fishing. In fact, liberals hate doing anything outdoors, it would take away from their valued latte drinking and NPR listening to time.

Have you people really run out of valid things to criticize him on?

Wow, you got me. I totally forgot about all those conservatives at Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Defenders of Wildlife, and the Pew Environmental Group, which of course makes your point completely valid. Boy, is my face red!

How is this...

... a refutation of this...

Is it really your contention that all liberals belong to one of those organizations? Is it further your contention that all of those organizations, specifically Pew, hate fishing?

None of those groups are against deer/elk hunting (by far the most popular) or fishing that I'm aware of. They mostly support habitat restoration and protection of endangered species. So your point that liberals hate hunting and fishing remains invalid as far as I'm concerned.

As an example, here is a list of successes from DoW's own website. The only thing "anti-fishing" I could find was their support of a ban on long-line fishing that kills sea turtles and sea birds.

I don't feel like digging through all the other websites, but if you can find one that supports a ban on hunting and/or fishing, let me know.

Did you wingnuts even read the article? I doesn't say anything.

But just to paraphrase you all from other threads "Fishing is a privilege not a right" Therefore, if you want to fish you must leave the country to do it. Don't like it, tough, it is not a right given in the constitution.

Somebody tag this thread.

I'm still betting on an exec order with a bunch of onerous regulations on fishing. I think the question is how hard they get hit and whether it's commercial or recreational, or both.

Both articles agree some of the envro orgs are strongly opposed to fishing, and are going so far as to mis-state facts against it.

No, it won't outright ban recreational (or commercial) fishing, but people will fear the 'slippery slope' of incrementalism.

I do they hope they take economic effects into consideration. The manner in which they're treating public input is a concern. Fishing is big business here in the SE, and one of the more popular forms of recreation.

If an exec order does come, I'm curious to see if & how it might try to over-rule state laws.

hmmmm... like a new $10000 federal fishing stamp, maybe? that would help pay for healthcare...
