Really? Is he really this so out of touch that he doesn't realize indicators are getting worse? People don't have as much money thanks to soaring gas prices related to YOUR administration. He doesn't know just how much of a bind many Americans are in, or more likely, it's what he wants.

I'm glad to hear however that he's "impatient" about "the recovery".

WASHINGTON — After a spate of discouraging economic reports, President Barack Obama insisted Tuesday he's not afraid of the country slipping into a double-dip recession. But at the same time he displayed some impatience that the pace of the recovery has "got to accelerate."

Same way Bush makes hurricanes.

But isn't it disgusting just how out of touch this president is? If things do get worse then the good news is we can hammer the shit outta him for this attitude because he simply refuses to believe in the hardships of many American. He's making Carter look like a genius.

Obama is turning into H.W. Bush.

An out of touch elitist.

Might be a good time to nominate Pawlenty with his solid middle class background that was devoid of private schools and time living in other countries.

Then why have we lost jobs since the recession ended??

We are down 199,000 jobs since they declared the recession over and the economy on the rebound.

This is despite the fact that Democrats such as Pelosi and Biden keep telling us that the jobs will be coming by the boatload.

I like how a conservative can turn anything into fear mongering. Obama saying he's not afraid of a double dip recession turns into "he's not concerned, he's doing nothing, he caused the recession even before being elected, it's all Obama's fault, he hates America, where's the birth certificate again!"

I weep for the fuck ups that will occur should we ever elect a Republican President again. If anyone is out of touch with reality, it's conservatives.

So you believe him then? No fears of double dip? Things getting better all the time, eh? Unemployment must be down, home prices must not be dropping despite record low rates? Consumer confidence must be rising along with consumer spending?

What else is a POTUS going to say during a bad economy? Yeah, this economy is in ruins. We're headed toward the great depression. Squirrel away all your money in matress. Don't buy anything. Really now, would ANY POTUS, ever, have said anything different than this?

Out of touch elitism? Sure it is.

This is one of the most moronic partisan threads of late, and that's saying a lot.

Well I'm glad to see you've finally come around to seeing the truth about something liberals were trying to tell you. That the extension of tax cuts for the wealthy would not spark them to create more jobs. As you admit it's obviously not happening. Thanks for admitting you were wrong, we appreciate it.

"Things getting better, I'll do everything possible to help with gas prices by doing (any number of good ideas), my administration will not rest, make no mistake and let me be clear, until we do everything we can to get out of the way of our free market economy and let business and people prosper"

His fuckness can start with that.

Saved or created. Tax cuts saved us from an even worse double-dip.

Prove me wrong. It's been Obama's argument from the beginning.

I'm really opposed to Obama and his economic policies, I think they're almost the complete opposite of what we need.

But he's not going to say that he's afraid of a double-dip recession. He has to play the part that things are going his way, if he admits that the recovery is failing then he's admitting that his economic policies have failed. It makes him look like a failure as a president. He's smart enough not to do this.

Of course Obama is concerned, but every President lacks a magic wand to wave, and any improvements in the economy to had will be through improvements of Governance.

As since 99.9% of the Public policy improvements require approval of the legislative branch, Obama has to work through compromise.

So as usual, Spidey07 fails to see the real problem.

If Spidey07 wants to blame just Obama, maybe Spidey should make Obama dictator. And then Spidey can blame Obama to his hearts content while we finally get the governance needed to fix the economy.

Yep, the recovery is doing so well...

In a sign that Obama is looking for a new direction on job creation, one of his top economic advisers, Austan Goolsbee, announced Tuesday his plans to resign and return to his teaching career at the University of Chicago. Goolsbee is a big proponent of Keynesian economics, which argues for aggressive government spending during recessions and recoveries.

Obama said:
I'm not concerned about a double dip recession. I am concerned about the fact that the recovery that we're on is not producing jobs as quickly as I want it to happen.

He was clarifying what exactly he was concerned about, which is the poor unemployment numbers. He was stating that a double dip recession is a potential future concern which he is not focused on and that the primary concern right now is the shitty "recovery". Why worry about the future when the present is bad.

Of course, logic and reading comprehension are skill sets far outside of your grasp.

Typical politicians and rich people are out of touch with reality. They look at crap like the Dow Jones and say "yay the recession is over" while average people are still desperate for a job. It reminds me of an interesting little segment Michael Moore had on one of his TV shows. He was asking rich people and poor people basic questions to see if they knew any of the same stuff. Of the rich people, none of them had any idea what the minimum wage was. Most of them didn't even know what a big mac cost; they were guessing shit like $10. On the flip side, the poor people didn't know things like what IBM stock is worth or how big the national debt is.
