Figures it would be you to get it assbackwards again.

The reason Obama brought it up has nothing to do with having previously considered it, but is a response to rightwing idiots like you that claimed he was going to do it. A silly and baseless claim he dismissed with a simple statement.

You should consider a career in writing creative fiction instead of commenting on the real world.

Why does the gay community try to impose itself on already established institutions though?

Congratulations on joining the OP in his utter stupidity. Yall might be able to qualify for federal disability benefits. I would be surprised if you could tie your own shoes or had voluntary control of your excretory system.

Why else would he come out and say he wont do it? Obviously he had put some thought into the idea.

You mean the news is so good and you are so desperate make an assertion with no basis in fact?? Its called a pre-emptive strike cause nudnicks will make up this kind off bullshit unless he explicitly states he won't. Foc News probably already had the headlines ready? "Will Obama force homosexuality on the church?"

Makes sense anyway, a Catholic couple can't just walk into a synagogue and say marry us.

obama isn't going to force Churches to marry gays. That won't happen and he knows there would be lots of outcry.

This is a complete non-issue and there are plenty of legitimate issues to criticize obama.

I don't get the sense Obama is going to force Churchs to marry gays. Nor anyone else. I see it as the boy crying wolf here.

Gays are people like everyone else and deserve to live a happy life. If a Church wants to allow gay marriage then great. If they don't then so be it. As long as gay couples have a chance to at least be married under the eyes of the law and society that is what matters.

Well, and so long as florists are forced to support SSM you mean.

LOL! Getting called on your phony outrage by Incorruptible. That's like Chris Brown telling you you to be nicer to your girlfriend.

It'll be great when all this gay marriage stuff is over with and gays have all the rights as straight people do. Eventually it won't be a big deal to anyone anymore except for the most stringent of bigots who cling to ancient hatred.

I recall when Obama was elected to office I asked my two kids (6 and 4) if they understood why his election was historic. They had no idea. "He's the first ever black president," I told them. "So?" was their reply. To them, it was totally inconsequential that he was black so they didn't understand the big deal, just like if someone told one of us that the first blonde haired president was a big deal.

Someday it'll be the same way for gay people. It won't be a big deal to anyone, society will continue to chug along unaffected, and only a small, bitter few will long for the days when gays were treated as a subclass of citizen.

You're pretty optimistic for a Hitchens fan. Did you forget that the world is headed towards theocratic fascism? It's started to accelerate since his death too. This small "progress" doesn't make up for the rest of what's going on. Remember that this ruling doesn't change anyone's mind on the issue. It cannot. Dogma is dogma.

Theocracy will give way to reason. I believe what we're dealing with right now in America is the beginning of the dying breaths of religious tyranny and fanaticism. Naturally, those dying breaths, while coming from an ever increasingly shrinking number of people, will get louder even as more voices die out.

As for the rest of the world, you're right. There is an alarming growth of religious fanaticism specifically in regards to Islam. We can only do our best to shine the light of reason and send the religious cockroaches scurrying back under the rocks from whence they came.

What? All of my threads are serious and it's not my fault people ignore the truth because it doesn't suit their agenda.

This is a non-issue since obama won't do this. There are much more important things to be worried about.

If I were a florist, I would sell flowers to whoever the fuck wanted to buy them.

At the same time, though, I can't support the government telling a private business to whom or what they can and cannot sell.
