Obama halts controversial EPA regulation

This is a good decision on Obama's part. What we don't need more of right now are new regulations that will require massive investments on the part of small businesses and people who have no money. Small businesses don't have the money for new, cleaner trucks and cars, and people don't have the money for them either. Forcing them to make these investments or pay fines at this particular time is silly.

Edit: Also, OP, you need to learn to paste the document text in the OP. We're lazy, here. Opening new tabs is a lot of work.

Why? Because in a poor economy he decided not to impose costs onto business? If he is a democrat his role is to rubberstamp everything the envrionment left throws at him?

Along with almost everything else he has actually done (not said). Hell, take out Obamacare and a few appointments and he is GWs twin brother.

No, he's sacrificing the environment and health of people to make the rich richer.

I don't really care about the politics. Much as I think tightening smog regulations is generally a good idea, given the state of the economy this is the wrong time for it. Their hyperbole about the costs of this aside, I think the GOP was essentially correct about the inadvisability of implementing this right now. The left will undoubtedly see this as Obama caving to the right once again, but honestly his first priority right now has to be jobs.

So he back peddled on something he promised to do, which would have made things worse. If only he did that for all his schemes.

It would have had no effect on economic growth, wasn't nearly big enough to have a significant impact. Probably would have spurred hiring given that you need additional labor (i.e. attorneys) to comply with said new regulations. But it'll be implemented within the next year anyway when the economy eventually recovers.

That is pretty much the worst possible way to make jobs. Pushing paper != economic growth.

He is taking a realistic approach. Realizing saddling business with more cost wont create jobs.

That said it is childish to suggest he switch teams because he wont side with your positions 100%.

Obama has sided with the political right more times than with the left. And almost everything he's done on the political right hasn't worked because conservative ideas are bad ideas on every single possible issue.

Can you list some Right Wing best contributions and policies so I can write them down?
No gay marriage springs to mind. The last thing we need right now is lots of people spending exorbitant amounts of money on ridiculously overpriced local goods and services.

That would be hard for me to do for you. From what I get from your writing. Policies to the right of Stalin would look like "Right Wing" to you.

Why not comment on the actual impact of having or not having the regulation instead of the drive by shooting against the right? I don't see that your post provides anything productive.

Exactly. Of course the OP has also forgotten to mention the only area where the job demand has increased these last few years... federal regulator jobs...

What better way to bring in more revenue!

Seriously? The left has been pretty static on most of their beliefs for some time now. Compare that to the right. Fifteen years ago Newt Gingrich was the Speark of the House and the epitomy of conservative politics. Now you have multiple members of this board refer to him as a RINO and Tea Party people saying he's not a true conservative. A few years back Republicans created a list of 10 ideals that if you didn't meet 8 or 9 of them you were kicked out of the national convention. Tax rates for the ultra rich are at a rate that has only been matched one time since the 40's and the right say those ultra rich should be given even more tax breaks. Obama wants to give a tax break to the average American worker by continuing the SS tax break and the right opposes it because it helps the poor not the rich. Palin and her Tea Part ilk like Bachmann want to drill for oil in ANWR and the Everglades where even other Republicans feel that drilling in some of those places is too risky for the environment.

The right has moved further and further right in the last decade. Hell, I'm not even that far left, I'm center left but to people on the right I seem like a socialist because the right is so far gone that a dead center person is a damn communist now. Pull your head out of your ass man!

So what you are saying is politics arent static? I am shocked, TOTALLY SHOCKED!

And you need to pull your head out of your ass. Did or didnt the federal govt double under Bush? Please tell me which "right wing" are you attributing that to? RINOs, Palin, Newt, Obama?

You getting this yet?

Threads like this are actually read with great interest by aliens. It's an efficient way to identify the next batch of abductees to be used for "medical examinations".
