Those ever-present economic hurdles were at the heart of the weighty discussion between Harper and Obama, who was greeted by several thousand people on the front lawn of Parliament Hill. He returned their affection with a wave, and capped the six-hour visit with an impromptu visit to the nearby Byward Market, where he bought a Beavertail pastry and cookies for his daughters.

I lived in eastern Canada for many years and Ottawa in particular for a couple and have been to the Byward Market many times and still have no idea what a beavertail is.

That was hard. I hear he also eats bear claws and elephant ears. The man is a monster!

I've eaten some beavertails by the waterfront in Halifax. They sell them in a little shack there in the well travelled area. I swear for years until I grew a bit older I thought they were real beavertails but was like no that is strange. In any case they were an enigma I was too embarrassed to ask about. Also, loafers and bangs (in the hair) I had no idea about for years but felt too silly to ask.

I know somebody who ate elephant ears once. true story.

i once ate pig tounge and ear.... the ear tasted like a potato chip, and the tounge was the most amazingly tender meat i have ever had.

Obama just had an awesome visit here in Canada.

It was pretty something to see him walking down the tarmac with our Governor General, who happens to be our head of state, and who also happens to be black.

I never would have thought in a million years I would see Canada and the US both with a black head of state.

Actually, Obama and Michaelle Jean would make a pretty cute couple IMO. :Q
