obama will not be attending the funeral of Margeret Thatcher and he won't be sending anyone from his administration to the funeral either. Instead Henry Kissinger, George Shultz and James A. Baker III will be attending the funeral who aren't part of this current administration.

Yes I know that obama has the Boston terrorist attack to deal with but this decision was likely made before that and he isn't even sending someone from his administration. This is just wrong and disrespectful to Margeret Thatcher. It is completely disgusting how he will let ideology get in the way of this.

He also did the same with Winston Churchill when he returned the bust back to England.

obama can't attend the funeral since he has to deal with Boston but he could at least send someone from his current administration to represent him.

Should obama send someone from his current administration to the funeral? Was obama wrong for not sending someone from his current administration to the funeral?

And if he would have gone, you'd have bitched about that too. "North Korea, Boston bombing. What's he doing going to an extravagant event like this when we have problems to deal with???".

You're too transparent. Try harder.

Who cares? What difference does it make whether one corporate political puppet attends or doesn't attend the funeral of another corporate political puppet?

Help me out here.

That's OK, I doubt she would have wanted to attend his funeral either had roles been reversed. It's not like he's Reagan after all.

Yup, and then this thread would devolve into yet another "We-Paid-for-the-Secret-Service-and-Air-Force-One-and-Oh-My-God-I-Saw-a-Lady-Using-an-EBT-Card-to-Buy-Meth" rage fiasco.

Former secretaries of state George Shultz and James A. Baker III, who both served under Republican President Ronald Reagan, will lead the U.S. delegation sent by Obama, the White House said in a statement.

Fail.

Obama going to foreign previous head of state's funeral = waste of taxpayer money.

I'm glad he's not going. First good decision he's made in 5 years.

Thatcher was nothing but an English woman when she died, i know you are eager to lick English balls but not this time.

Besides, you couldn't fit Thatchers ball int your mouth, no little girl could.

Obama has more important things to do. So what?

During the Cold War Margaret Thatcher and the UK were staunch allies of the United States and she deserves a measure of respect from the leadership of this country. I can understand why Obama or even Biden can't make it, but to not have an official representative of the United States there to represent our country and our President is petty and not worthy of our nation.

Kissinger’s attendance was announced by U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron’s office in London today.

Oh, btw...there was a terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon if you haven't noticed.

I don't really care. It's a formality.

I don't know you but thanks for your respect, even if it's firmly in the past tense.

I have never understood the notion that the dead, other things being equal, should be insulated from criticism. Margaret Thatcher was, during her tenure as PM, a heedless provocateur who propounded ideas I disagree with and do not respect. She was a mean woman with mean policies. I have no more compunction about criticizing her than I would about Osama bin Laden, Stalin, or Hitler. I am not equating her wrongs with theirs - I don't think she was nearly as destructive as they were - my point is only that the fact that she's dead buys her nothing in terms of the legitimacy of critiquing her. Are you saying that Hitler should be protected against criticism because he's not here to defend himself?

So, yeah, fuck her and the horse she rode in on.
