It doesn't matter whether one is negligence and another is intentional. Many forms of negligence reach the same or even worse forms of punishment than an intentional act.

Volcanic ash, oil spill destroying their most important company, "losing" in the World Cup tie... potential missile strike. It's been a bad few months for them!

He is right that this disaster is going to cost us more economically than 9/11 did. We haven't even scratched the surface of the long-term damage this will do.

Oh wait, no, because you see, when something isn't viable yet, such as a true alternative fuel, it means you have to start doing the work neccessary to make it viable. Frankly this should have started in the 80s, but if this doesn't wake us up to the need for it, then what will? So, it's a case of better late then never.

Or, you can just stick your head in the sand like you choose to do and just assume that since something doesn't exist now, it will never exist and we shouldn't bother trying.

Take for example JFK's speech on the Moon project:

"We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too. "

This is another of those challenges that isn't going to be easy, but we must do it because that's how we measure our worth as a leader nation.

It's not about alternative energy, it's about punishing energy production and use. Basically just one big massive tax increase. Careful, you're emitting CO2, there is a tax on that.

And don't even get started on the power the EPA would have over your house and private property.

Riiight. Actually, I know quite a bit about cap and trade. In fact, I'm 100% sure I know A LOT more about it than you do since my job requires me to do a great deal of research on it, while the extent of your knowledge seems to be the talking points you seem very good at regurgitating.

Obviously. I'd buy one myself, since I love the planet, except that I'm selling my own Green 'Possum carbon credits. For only twenty bucks I'll postpone mowing my yard for a whole week; for a hundred I'll designate one of my trees and not cut it down in your name.
