The audio recording of Barack Obama espousing his socialist philosophy of ?redistribution of wealth? is all over the Internet and Fox News today (although the other media outlets are ignoring it), but there?s another disturbing section on that tape that has so far escaped notice.

At about 15:30, Obama compares what was going on in the United States during the time of Brown vs. the Board of Education to ... Nazi Germany. Yes, really. Here?s the quote:

?...just to take a, sort of a realist perspective...there?s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you?ve got World War II, you?ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.?

Our next President seems to have a history of rather odd and inflammatory rhetoric.

this forum is littered with Obama bashing threads. All attacking his characther, none about real issues that people care about. Another nice try. Its getting close to Nov 4th and you guys are getting desperate. Cant wait to see what crap you bring up next. Anything to avoid the economy or Iraq and the immense damage your president did to our country I guess.

Yes he is and he has admitted as much.

And the modern day neocons aren't?

You won't find me making that argument.

From a black perspective, yes, I can see some comparison. We didn't send send them to gas chambers but we'd just let out interned Japanese and had our own second-class citizens.

Hell, we treated German prisoners better than we did black servicemen.

Character is one of the most important issues when it comes to a President.

Clinton had all kinds of character issues and they popped up through out his Presidency.

And I don't think anyone would excuse Nixon's character flaws either.

Most of the 'character issue' threads deal with who Obama has chosen to associate himself with through his career. The people he associates with say a lot more about who he really is than some slickly packaged campaign.

Also, the fact that Obama has such a short record means that the only way we can judge him is to look at his past, who he associates with, who he supports, the choices he has made etc. Everything about him in that regard suggests that he is a far left (for America) politician, and yet he has passed himself off as a main stream politician and the press has pretty much given him a pass.

The point is he didn't say "identical" he said "uncomfortably similar."
So if you disagree, that must mean that you are actually comfortable with the level of similarity between 1950s landmarks like Jim Crow and McCarthyism to Nazi policies, and not particularly outraged by it.

There is nothing about what he said that puts his character in question in any way shape or form, unless you are comfortable with 1950s laws like Jim Crow.
Also, McCain is running a taxpayer funded campaign, while Obama is raising private funds to run his. So who is the lefty here? Why is McCain given a free pass for socializing his campaign costs?

Anyone trying to suggest that McCain is a socialist because of his publicly financed campaign is an idiot. No other way to describe it.

When it comes to the way they will run the country you can't compare Obama and McCain. One will be a big government liberal and the other will not.

McCain has advocated more spending than Obama and is more "socialist" to boot when you include his $300B mortgage plan. His tax cuts are also less than Obama's.

You do know that Eugenics was popular in the US post WW2, right? You do know that the 50s included witch hunts for communists, right? You do know that the country was still extremely racist during the 50s, right?

Now granted, Nazi Germany is going to far, but don't think of the past as the good old days when they really weren't.

Right.. I'm tasting notes of 2000 and 2004. How true that argument was then eh?
