Maybe those low post count knuckle dragger trolls will actually contribute to a discussion instead of putting on pom poms.

I doubt it - but have at it. If there's any contribution at all if will be trying to rationalize their support of the current administration. Of course, this won't be honest contribution but it might be entertaining. I expect to see a lot of attempts at rewriting history.

I guess you've read his plan, but haven't read anything else?

1.) Obama is talking about federal fuel economy standards, the companies are certainly not doing all that they can to increase mileage. They have only slightly shifted towards improving this recently when everyone went batshit about gas prices. To think that the companies are just taking care of this on their own is hopelessly naive.

2.) They won't need those batteries McCain is talking about, as both Toyota and GM have plug in hybrids coming out in 2010 without any magical McCain batteries.

3.) Obama doesn't promise these 'magic cars' will be here soon, GM and Toyota do. Oh, and they've already built some. Guess they are magical car manufacturers, huh?

4.) You're not really saying anything meaningful here to shoot down.

So you're saying that companies aren't doing all they can to increase mileage, yet GM and Toyota are coming out with plug in hybrids in 2010. Obama promised these cars will be here, quite a promise since evidently they have already been in the works....quite a bold statement for him to make there. I was actually unaware of 150mpg vehicles in the works tbh.

Looks like any actual impact from 150+mpg vehicles is going to take a lot longer than getting oil out of the ground in 10.

Right, I'm saying that companies aren't doing all they can to increase mileage, yet GM and Toyota are coming out with plug in hybrids in 2010. They are doing some things for better mileage, but far from everything they could do. If you check out some studies on the issue you'll see that significant amounts of fuel efficiency have been sacrificed for more horsepower/engine performance. Things like that.

I also don't understand the point of the rest of your post. When Obama made a promise you thought was far-fetched you criticized him for being hopelessly unrealistic and relying on 'magical cars'. Now when you see that his plan was firmly grounded in cars that are coming out soon, you criticize him for playing it safe.

The impact of the plug in hybrids is only one facet of a broader based fuel efficiency program that Obama is advocating. Improved efficiency standards will take much, much, much less time to yield tangible benefits than more drilling. The best part about it? The money saved goes in your pocket as opposed to the pocket of an oil company. Even better, huh?

Considering the republican plan does all that and includes drilling to help bridge till a real alternative is found. That and the republican plan calls for some nuclear plant to help power those electric and plug in hybrids. No drilling is a failed plan and Promote the Responsible Domestic Production of Oil and Natural Gas is not drilling. That just means there will be so many hoops to jump through and regulations that no company will bother with drilling.

If a near 3rd world country in brazil can get ultra deep water oil in less than 3 years just proves the 10 year democratic talking points are bullshit.

Either people are paying you to write these things, or you are so brainwashed that you are mentally cutting and pasting talking points.

Let's dispense with the bull**it. Powerful systems are entrenched, regardless of who is President or which party is a majority in Congress. It boils down to this:
How much power/rights do you want to give to business vs. yourself?

President Clinton promised a middle class tax cut. Do you think he delivered it? All I ever saw from Bill Clinton was the largest tax increase in history and a massive reduction in spending in the military. Right now troop levels are too low to cut. We dont have enough troop levels to fight in Iraq without activating our reserve and national guard troops. This is very disturbing.

Therefore, I dont believe a liberal when they promise a middle class tax cut. Bush is the only one to give anyone a tax cut, and the liberals in the democratic party fought this from the beginning. So what evidence is there that the liberals in congress will pass a middle class tax cut?

I am not so sure I make enough money to be considered middle class.

I heard a skit by George Carlin about this subject last weekend. It was about how Americans try to pretend nothing is wrong by changing phrases and words. It was actually pretty good. His main example was Shell Shock and its different description through the years.
