With Kerry it was the Swiftboat people. Seriously, how could Kerry's Military record be in question AT ALL against Bush. That there is proof enough.

I think I agree with you. Yea, the Dems need to get a set and start being as despicable as the Republicans because it's all about telling a lie over and over again. Facts mean nothing anymore. After all, it is way past 1984.

Beg your pardon, but that's inane. Republicans politicians are famous for their solidarity, and their voting record indicates them lock-stepping on almost everything for a very long time. If anything, they've been purging their ranks of any sort of dissidents for the last 30 years. If it weren't for the two Maine Senators, Dems wouldn't have anybody to compromise with.

As for Dems and compromise, they compromised healthcare reform into basically what repubs offered back in 1993, compromised on financial reform, and ultimately compromised enough back in 2005 to avoid the nuclear option by Frist's republicans.

Republicans have executed a ratchet maneuver over and over again. when dems compromise, they take it. when things go the other way, they obstruct until they can regain control or get dems to compromise again.

Haven't found their voice? Puh-leeze. The most radical elements in the party certainly have, and are now leading the charge.

Coming up next- endless witch hunts on the part of HOR republicans.

why dont you tell us who is the next presidential candidate from the reps will be? Highly unlikely to be palin. The dems had a fairly charismatic leader in Clinton. Obama sold hope and change. The reps had Ron R. Since then who has impressed the American voter, not ust the party? No one. Going through and following the party manual does not offer a leader at election time. They are on auto pilot.

Obama is over in India now making statements how by us sending jobs/work to India it is saving US jobs.
The point is not to save the jobs; but to create new jobs.

Still trying to share the wealth, rather than expand it to be shared. :(

Heh. Reagan wasn't a leader, he was an actor. I honor him for the one time he really did lead, and that was in accepting Gorbachev's initiatives, ending the Cold War. W was much the same. They mostly read the script that was given to them, accepted the choices their party and advisors limited them to having. Bush was particularly incurious and doctrinaire.

Who will they run in 2012? Among the rank and file, Palin is the front runner- she's captured their imagination. Yeh, they imagine that she could actually function as president somewhat better than a cardboard cutout. What the leadership is really looking for is an attractive and dependable figurehead to put in what looks like the driver's seat. The real leadership of the party will remain in the hands of their financiers.

Christie? Pawlenty? Barbour? Jindahl? Romney? DeMint? Whoever they pick, Faux News and the rest of the rightwing echo chamber will fluff them up to be the second coming of Christ, and will be believed by the faithful and maybe enough independents to actually win. As we've seen in the Maddow thread, the truth really matters not at all to republican voters, not the teensiest little bit.

Exactly where is Obama left wing?

Escalated the Afghanistan War, Has bombing runs and special forces in Yemen and Pakistan (two more undeclared wars), Left wing FAIL.

Has an assassination program on US Citizens he deems terrorists? Left wing FAIL.

Give drug companies monopoly banning drug imports, extends patents, and does not allow govt to negotiate prices? Left wing FAIL.

Forces Americans to buy a defective expensive product from corporations. Left wing FAIL.

Funnels billions into banks that crashed economy, large home publicly traded builders not small ones, and protects BP with accelerated claim no future recourse schema escrow account. Left wing FAIL.

Stacked his deficit commission aka cat-food commission with 15/19 fiscal conservatives. Left wing FAIL. ... just wait till that's done the left will go crazy.

-Lowered Taxes. Left wing FAIL.

Dudes a corporatist. Nether left or right just what's good for what put him there. It was not you buying a $25 t shirt. But billions from above.

Marco Rubio will be president one day. Charming, Intelligent, Hispanic and won't flame out like Jindal or Palin. Maybe Romney for 2012 tho.

The difference is spidey isnt the president and doesn't need to move to the center

I guess the President of the United States can make up his own mind on what he wants to do rather then let a bunch of right-wing hacks who think they "speak for the people" call the shots. Or are we running he goverment according to Spidey's ridiculous perceptions?

I guess your another one who thinks Obama should consult Limbaugh before he makes any decisions. Make a gain in one election and people think we're back to the good old Neocons calling the shots. LOL@that

I don't know what the next 2 years hold, but I'm of the firm opinion that BOTH parties had better figure out how to work together and make some positive progress. IMHO, whichever side appears to be more interested in playing politics rather then fixing our economy is going to suffer the wrath of the voters next election. Politics isn't a "winner-take-all" game which is the game the GOP got used to playing. It is about the art of compromise. At least that's what it should be about and if enough people haven't learned that then we're all in big trouble and probably still headed for uneccesary grief and heartache.

Whether one thinks his policies are good or bad, you have to admit there is a VERY concerted effort in certain media outlets and by Republican opposition to distort his agenda and actions. The recent "$200M per day" old wives tale proves this.

Good you and the rest need to be stripped as much as possible since you don't contribute your fair share.

Taxes going up 33% here in Chicago, already the highest in the country and no one complaining.

You are next :D

I understand opposition to President Obama and some of his policies, but it would be nice to see more honest opposition. I've never seen such a plethora of lies and half-truths against any president.

It's all they got. They are the spin masters.

They honestly believe anything they spew enough times will be believed as truth.

Guess what? They are right. Americans are very stupid people.
They were easily brainwashed by the Corporate machine.

This cycle proved how easily it is brainwash them by putting the very same Republicans that destroyed the country under Bush right back into power.

So do I. There's plenty of factual information out there to formulate a negative opinion on his policies without resorting to outright lies.

However, as Fox News, Palin, Limbaugh, Beck, etc. show, there is big money to be made in being political entertainers who know how to rile up their audience. Angry audience = watching shows, listening to radio programs, buying books, attending rallies, et al.

How could republicans vote for him without feeding into the hypocrisy of immigration reform? He's practically an anchor baby.
