Oatmeal...........with water?

my oatmeal always ends up being 50% fruit and sugar

I don't like a lot of sugar, but I've been using fruit heavy mixtures lately, and it really adds a lot to the texture. I've spent most of my life eating oatmeal the same way, which was just untextured flavoring, and using a lot of fruit in the mix has been a revelation. It's like a whole different product, and 10* better :^)

Instead of creating a new thread, I figured I'd bump this one. I just created a new oatmeal masterpiece, and it isn't even as good as it could be. Here it is, ignore at your peril....

Cut apples up into a bowl. Berries would be better, but I only had apples

Add ~3 teaspoons brown sugar. Vary to taste

Shake some cinnamon on top

Dump some quick oats on top dry. I used McCann's instant, but any kind of quick oat will work.

Here's the important part. Heat up coconut milk in the microwave, then pour it over the stuff in the bowl, and stir it up. I left mine medium warm, but it can be heated as hot as desired. It's fuckin' delicious, and I can't believe I've gone this long without trying it. HIGHLY recommended, especially if you're tired of the standard oatmeal preparation.

I'm guessing this would also work with apple juice - I've used that to make oatmeal before and it's good as well. For a while I would do toasted coconut shreds and toasted nuts along with dried blueberries and (of course) milk.
